I love horses. That is why I worked so hard to solve the hock sore problem. I have had customers tell me that they would have put their horses down if they hadn't found Hock Shields because their old horse had such bad hock sores. After working 18 months to figure out how to get something to stay on the hock to protect it, I started looking for a manufacturer in the US to make them for me. I was sewing them myself until my sales got to the point that I couldn't keep up. The f...ew US manufacturers that I did find, made such defective products or asked me to purchase sewing machines for them, that I started looking to China. They made a beautiful product at the SAME COST that I was paying when I was sewing them myself. That is why I decided to have a factory in China make them for me. I couldn't find a factory in America that could make them. I have continued to look (anyone who knows of a US factory, please give me their contact info). Because of the tariffs, I cannot pay myself a minimum salary to run my own company. I have to write our government a check for $5,000 for my next shipment before I can pick the order up from the warehouse. I will have to take money out of our personal savings account to cover the tariffs. I am not getting a subsity from the government (like some of our famers are). I paid $4,000 to our government for my previous shipment. I have paid over $10,000 in tariffs this year. When our president says that China is paying the tariffs, please don't believe it. People like me are paying them. Yes, I had to raise my prices to help cover the added cost. So, the horse owners in the US are also paying the cost. China is NOT paying anything. If the tariffs go from 25%to 30%, I don't know how I can cover that cost. I can't just find a new factory, it isn't that easy. I love horses. I want to stay in business. I am just saying....... Thank you to all who stopped by our booth at the Western States Horse Expo last weekend. It is so great to talk with horse lovers who are trying to keep their horses healthy and comfortable.

A piece of paper is attached to her halter that reads, "My name is Jenny. I didn’t run away, I’m just walking. Thank you." But the police get calls frequently from people who don't know about the arrangement. They are very familiar with the horse and the owner, and there have been no incidents in 14 years. A local veterinarian gives her routine checkups and continues to find her to be healthy and showing no anxiety about her unique lifestyle.
