....you may kill me with your hatefulness. But still, like air, I’ll rise. - Maya Angelou #breonnataylor #mlkday #blm #still

Your Natural Birth 01.01.2021

Labor tip no. 1: apply what you already know. Even when you think it doesn’t apply. Corona has passed away. I’m beside myself. Thanks everyone for the condolences. Here’s the story: she was full of unfertilized eggs and ready to nest. We had to build an enclosure that would accommodate this. She needed to dig deep to bury her eggs. We built an enclosure in her favorite spot. Before we started building, she already had lost her appetite and since she was on the move arou...nd the house - looking for a nesting spot - it was hard to keep the humidity at the right spot for her. Finally the enclosure was built but by this time, she’d been 2 weeks without eating. It took her another few days to dig and nest and lay all her eggs. She laid well over 30 eggs. After she laid them, her eyes were shrunken, indicating hydration, and she was a bit shakey. Insert human intervention here: I decided to take her to the doctor. Sigh. They gave her 3 shots: calcium for her muscles. Antibiotics for a suspected case of mouth rot (which she didn’t have but I didn’t have enough education to feel confident in arguing with them about it). And fluid, since she was dehydrated. The treatment extremely stressed her out. The next day, the limbs where they gave her the shots were so swollen she wouldn’t or couldn’t use them. She was unable to hold onto her vines. She fell and her head. Her eyes became swollen. She wasn’t able to open her eyes to see. This increased her stress. And by the next morning - despite me being up with her every hour and a half through the night to mist her - she was gone. Goodbye my sweet ballerina, yogi, aerialist, Pilates friend. You were exceptional and I will miss you forever. And I’m so sorry. #chameleon #mylove #reptilelover See more
