Last year at this point, we were already over doing extra dishes and eating junk food at home. For Easter, we realized that fancy foods and carefully coordinated tablescapes weren't required. This Easter egg snack tray (or charcuterie if you want to feel fancy) is perfect for both kids and adults. Take an egg carton and plastic Easter eggs, then fill with your favorite snacks. What does it take to become USDA certified organic? Before we can apply for the organic certification, we must farm the ranch completely organically for three years. After the three year mark, we must complete a ranch inspection and a review of field input documentation before the ranch can officially receive organic certification. It's National Weatherperson's Day! The weather plays a significant role in the growth and harvest of our crops, so we pay special attention to it. We even have five of our own weather stations and an in-house weatherman, Tony! As we look for ways to improve table grape harvest efficiency, this year we are trying out the Burro - a self-driving cart - in our vineyards. The Burro makes the harvest process less strenuous on our employees and uses time more efficiently by eliminating the need to repetitively push a cart full of grapes down the vineyard rows. Please note that the shift for this role is 9pm-5am. Purpose of Position: This position will be responsible for the overall supervision and implementation of the location’s sanitation program. The sanitation supervisor will work closely with management to ensure timely resolution of issues and compliance with company and statutory regulations. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience in sanitation in a food processing environment.... Accountabilities: Manage and oversee the location's sanitation crew and supplies Implement and maintain Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs), based on company guidelines and statutory regulations Handle the management of, and employee training for, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) procedures and personnel safety Coordinate with the Operations Manager and/or Maintenance Manager to resolve Quality Assurance issues and to oversee management of preventative maintenance programs Communicate with chemical supplier and ensure proper chemical types and rates are used Act as member of the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) team Other duties as assigned Minimum Skills Required: At least 2 years of college 3 to 5 years previous work experience in a similar position Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Word, Excel and Outlook) Good communication skills Ability to lift 40 pounds, stoop, crawl, crouch, climb, reach and stand for long periods of time Must be able to work for long periods of time in a wet environment with repetitive job duties Strong leadership skills and interpersonal skills Strong organizational and group presentation skills Preferred but not Essential: Chemical knowledge Bi-lingual: English and Spanish

Each year after harvest is complete, we replenish nutrients in the soil of our orchards and vineyards. We take soil samples to determine which nutrients need replenishment and then select from different compost options based on their nutritive values.
