The Pacific AIDS Education and Training Center and the Denver Prevention Training Center present: Register here:https://paetc.wpengine.com/event-calend/event-information/ Adapting HIV Service for Youth During COVID-19 and Beyond... Friday, February 12, 2021 9:30-11:00 am Pacific/10:30 am - 12:00 pm Mountain Subject Matter Experts include: Ezra Bisom-Rapp, Health Education Coordinator, UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland LaMar Yarborough, Hype 2 Empower Dr. Daniel H. Reirden MD, FAAP, FACP, AAHIVS, Children’s Hospital, Colorado Facilitated by: JaDawn Wright, MA, Deputy Director, Pacific AIDS Education & Training Center Learning Objectives: Explore the landscape for youth access to HIV services, including sexual health education, prevention, and care Discuss the barriers and facilitators for youth transitioning from adolescent to adult HIV care and services Identify strategies for youth to assist with clinical engagement, specifically during the COVID-19 pandemic Identify and brainstorm resources to support youth focused HIV program can implement to support continued access to services Description: According to the CDC, In 2018, youth aged 13 to 24 made up 21% of the 37,832 new HIV diagnoses in the United States (US) and dependent areas. Youth with HIV are the least likely of any age group to be retained in care and have a suppressed viral load. Addressing HIV in youth requires that young people have access to the information and tools they need to make healthy decisions and reduce their risk for getting HIV, and to get treatment and stay in care if they have HIV. This webinar will examine the landscape for youth engagement in HIV care services along with identifying key components for service providers to consider as a client/patient centered approach. Our panel of subject matter experts will discuss barriers and facilitators when providing HIV services to youth, and discuss strategies to assist with clinical engagement during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Join California Latinas for Reproductive Justice for a virtual day of action today urging Governor Newsom on social media to support the budget request to establish the Forced Sterilization Compensation Program. Between 1909-1979 CA sterilized at least 20,000 people - a third of eugenics sterilizations nationwide. California led the nation in the eugenics movement and MUST lead in reckoning with its violent legacy. We reviewed more than 100 heat and climate change adaptation plans or associated documents but found only a couple of references to pregnancy, said Skye Wheeler, senior women’s rights researcher at Human Rights Watch. Pregnant people, and especially Black and brown people, need to be at the table as we tackle the multiple harms to health from increasing heat. https://www.hrw.org//us-heat-emergency-plans-missing-pregn#

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: On December 1, 2020, World AIDS Day, The Well Project - HIV and women and the International Community of Women Living with HIV - North America are issuing a joint press release announcing the launch of the Expert Consensus Statement on Breastfeeding and HIV in the United States and Canada and urging the endorsement of community stakeholders. The statement is co-authored by 21 multi-disciplinary, multi-sectoral experts calling for parents living with ...HIV to have access to the information, support, and tools they need to make informed infant-feeding decisions. Our organizations, which focus on the health and well-being of women living with HIV, are releasing the statement in conjunction with #WorldAIDSDay to elevate an important gap impacting the HIV community. We invite all individual and organizational stakeholders working in HIV and intersectional communities (including gender justice, women’s health, reproductive justice, and others) to review and sign onto the full statement and consider how this information relates to your work. #WAD2020 #thewellproject #ICWNA #breastfeeding https://www.thewellproject.org//expert-consensus-statement

Over the span of three weeks in September and October, NPR photographed ...and interviewed 19 women around the world.
