The developing brain is more likely to experience extreme highs and lows. The good things are the BEST thing ever, and the bad things feel like the worst thing that could ever happen. This can make things feel pretty volatile. While those brain chemicals take their sweet time to balance out, we can take steps to remind ourselves of the context and to provide the grace, structure, and comfort that can help to cushion those highs and lows.
