Light Up The Valley Holiday Light Decoration Contest 2020! Let's get in the holiday spirit and help your local radio station by entering the Light Up The Valle...y Holiday Lights Decoration Contest! A safe and fun holiday activity! The contest will include two categories; Residential and Commercial/Non-profit Business display. The cost to enter is a $10.00 donation Santa and the KOYT Koyote will be getting together to decide their favorite displays and prizes will be awarded: $200.00 for 1st place, and $50.00 for 2nd and 3rd place in each category. A total of $600 in prizes! The entry deadline is December 7, no exceptions. All displays must be complete by December 11, 2020 and lighted every night from 5-9pm until Christmas Day/ Night. All contestants must be within the Anza, Terwilliger, LRE, areas and willing to allow the community to drive by their displays, although there may be areas where community members may not wish to drive since some dirt roads can be hazardous (this will not affect the judging of your entry). All entries will be listed on the Light Up The Valley map. December 18th thru the 20th KOYT 97.1 lpFM will be playing On-Air holiday music, descriptions, and judging results with the intention of Drive Thru listening for the community. Summary of Webinar: Please join the Region 5 Youth Preparedness Council for a webinar to learn about the importance of cybersecurity and resources needed to engage safely online. Data shows that three in five children use Internet-based devices in their homes, and it’s estimated that children between 8 and 18 spend about 45 hours per week online numbers that have most likely increased during stay-at-home orders. With the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic changing the way learn and socialize it is critical for you to identify steps you can take to protect yourself when you connect online. The Internet can provide a wide range of fun activities from social media to gaming and shopping; but, as youth surpass their parents in tech savviness, their digital profiles can easily become a target for cyber criminals. Learn the basics of good cyber hygiene from expert guest speakers from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) who will help clarify common questions and discuss the resources youth need to be safer and more secure online.

Today High Country 4-H gave away Flower Pots they had painted with flower and spice seeds at the Anza Community Hall food Pantry. The 4-H members were hoping to spread a little cheer, since this Covid 19 thing makes us all a little sad. We thank the community for letting us do this.
