Important information for our Attorney Members regarding the San Bdno. Court Closure: PLEASE NOTE: The Court’s information continues to be updated as the situation evolves. Counsel are urged to check the Court’s website at www.sb-court.org for official information. In addition, collegiality and civility strongly suggest that counsel should meet and confer as to how individual case matters should be handled to allow Court personnel to concentrate on the re-opening of the cou...rts. A County Bar Member asked: How can we file papers when the court is closed? What happens to statute of limitation deadlines, law and motion deadlines, discovery deadlines, pre-trial deadlines, etc.? Are court closure days considered "holidays" per CCP section 10? Does a rescheduled trial date still considered the "initial trial date" for time limitations? The Superior Court responds: The simple answer is that the days we are closed, for now, are considered court holidays. Therefore, no business may be conducted. April 3, 2020 is the next official business day, assuming we reopen on that date. That will be the first day that we would be able to conduct business. Drop boxes are available at the court and the attorneys may deposit their papers there but they will not be filed until we officially re-open, currently scheduled for 4/3/2020.
