Mid-week heat wave! Temperatures are expected to reach 80 at the beach today and tomorrow with light Santa Ana winds forecasted. If you are planning to #beatth...eheat by visiting the beach, it is important to note that spring-time ocean conditions continue to exist. This means deep inshore holes & rip currents will likely exist at all County of Los Angeles beaches. Swim/Surf/Bodyboard in front of an OPEN Lifeguard Tower! Check in with a Lifeguard for an update on ocean & beach conditions in your area. . . . . . #lifeguard #lacolifeguards #lifeguards #lacounty #losangeles #LA #Baywatch #rescueboat #rescue #boat #boating #ocean #oceanlifeguard #catalina #catalinaisland #paramedic #heatwave See more

Press Release | Hermosa Beach City Councilmember Hany Fangary to Resign, Citing his Move to Manhattan Beach Post Date:12/26/2020 9:00 PM City Council to Hold Preliminary Discussion Jan. 12 about a Replacement... HERMOSA BEACH, CA City Councilmember Hany Fangary submitted a letter of resignation to the City Council on Christmas Eve, notifying the Council that he will resign his position on the Council effective Jan. 4, 2021, because he and his family are moving to Manhattan Beach. State law requires councilmembers to live in the city they represent. The Hermosa Beach City Council plans to hold a preliminary discussion about filling the Council seat at its next meeting, which will be Jan. 12, 2021. Under state law, the Council may appoint a replacement or hold a special election and the Council must decide how to fill the seat within 60 days of the seat becoming vacant. In either case, the new councilmember will be appointed or elected to complete the current term of office, which ends in November 2022. I thank Hany for his service to Hermosa Beach, said Hermosa Beach Mayor Justin Massey. With Hany’s help, we ended the threat of oil drilling, stabilized our fire and police services, and accomplished much more. I wish Hany and his family well in their move to Manhattan Beach. Read the press release on the City's website at the link below.

OMG Santa, we know him! Santa and our very own Parks and Rec mascot Sunny will be making their way around Hermosa Beach this evening (12/16) with the help of our Hermosa Beach Police Department and LA County Fire from 4:30 to 6:00 PM. Santa and his team will not be able to make stops this year, but you can find a map of their route on the next image or on our website. You’ll know Santa is on his way when you see and hear lights and sirens and he has asked everyone to avoid gathering with those outside of your household and to wear a mask if you will be outside of your house or walking to see him along his route. https://www.hermosabeach.gov//Compo/Calendar/Event/7806/21

The US National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard has issued a Beach Hazards Statement through Tuesday evening for LA County. A WNW swell is expected to bring elevated surf conditions, dangerous rip currents, and early morning high tides around 7’ may produce minor coastal flooding. If you’re heading to the beach, please use extra caution, check in with our Los Angeles County Fire Department, Lifeguard Division for conditions, and surf or swim near an open lifeguard tower.

Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the town, votes were being cast, for city boundaries to be drawn. It was a close call between the ayes and the nays, but with more votes in favor, Hermosa Beach put its first trustees in place. Did you know....on this day in 1906, the question of whether Hermosa Beach should be an incorporated city was on the ballot? The polling place, located inside the bowling alley at 10th and The Strand, drew 24 votes for incorporation and ...23 against. From there it still took a couple of weeks for the city to receive the official incorporation charter from the state, but for today, we'll celebrate this joyous vote that gave us the City of Hermosa Beach. Thanks to the @hermosabeachmuseum for sharing this photo from 1905 from their extensive collection of Hermosa Beach history with us. . . . #hermosabeach #hermosafortheholidays #throwbackthursday #bestlittlebeachcity #hermosahistory
