Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. This photo was taken back in 2003, and if I remember correctly, this sweet Dalmatian was named "Violet". My friend says it looks like a Christmas card. Happy Holidays!

Well, it looks like Butte County is back in the purple tier. Thankfully, my business is classified as "essential", so I will continue to honor all standing appointments while taking proper precautions. I urge everyone to wear a mask or face covering just to be safe. I will continue to provide "curbside" service for you and your pets. As always, if you feel ill on your appointment day and would rather not leave the house, just let me know, even if it's the same day. I promise I will not be mad. :) Stay safe, everyone!

I didn't even know we had a day!

It's October! That means that I am starting to schedule grooming appointments into the next year. If you have a 2021 calendar, I encourage you to schedule your grooming appointments as far ahead as you are able. The best way to do this is by email, [email protected] . Tell me what dates work best for you and I will do my best to get you scheduled for your preferred times. If we do it in writing, we both have a record we can refer back to if needed. Depending on timing..., there is usually a bit of wiggle room if you need to cancel or reschedule an upcoming appointment, and it's always better to have an appointment and not need it, than to need an appointment and not have it! But as they say, the early bird gets the worm, so if you want to schedule ahead, contact me as soon as you can. As a reminder, I am closed on Thursdays and Sundays, and I am also closed on some Mondays. Email me for specific dates. Thanks everyone for your continued loyalty and support! See you soon!

Good news! The broken water pipe has been repaired and we are back in business! Having said that, we are taking a vacation beginning September 9 through September 14. I'll be back to work on September 15. Thanks everyone for your continued loyalty and support! See you soon!

2020 has not been a good year for anyone, right? Today a water pipe broke in the grooming shop and caused a minor flood. We are mopping up and trying to fix the pipe, but we may need a professional to come in. What this means is that I may not be able to groom for a few days until the problem is resolved. If you have an upcoming appointment, I will contact you ASAP if we need to reschedule your appointment. Wish us luck!

So it seems that Butte County is shutting down once again. Luckily, my business has been deemed "essential", so unless that changes, I will continue to honor all standing appointments as long as I am healthy. Unfortunately, I'm unable to take new clients at his time. Land of Paws is taking precautions against COVID-19 by masking up, sanitizing and disinfecting frequently, and performing "curbside" service. Remember to protect yourselves and your loved ones by wearing a mas...k or face shield when out and about. If you are an existing client and you want an appointment before September, get in contact with me now! We will be taking our yearly vacation the first two weeks of September, so appointments before and after are filling up fast. As always, if you are feeling ill, please don't hesitate to call/email me to reschedule your appointment. I promise I will not be mad if you have to cancel at the last minute. Be safe, everyone!

Many of you have asked where I got my cute, well-fitting face masks. Here you go! These are made in Chico (but they do ship) and are the most comfortable masks I've ever worn.

Maybe some good news? This article suggests that the coronavirus does not stick well to pet fur and other surfaces. Of course, Land of Paws is still taking precautions and disinfecting everything, as we always have. With Butte county easing restrictions a bit, more people are out and about and that means the coronavirus is out and about as well. I will continue to honor all standing appointments, and I will wear a mask and come out to your car for "curbside" service, in ...order to protect you. I have been locking the front door between appointments, but I sometimes forget to unlock it, so please use the Ring device on the front porch if you arrive for your scheduled drop off/pick up times and find the door locked. As always, if you are feeling under the weather or suspect you may be sick, please do not hesitate to contact me to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Please stay safe, everyone! And thank you for your continued support and loyalty. It is an honor to be entrusted with your furry loved ones. https://www.washingtonpost.com//virus-does-not-spread-ea/

It appears that California is starting to open up a bit. Land of Paws is still honoring all standing appointments, but we are unable to take new clients at this time. I have been taking precautions to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, and I hope you are too! Please stay safe and wear your masks when out and about. If you are feeling unwell or uncomfortable about going out, just contact me via phone or email and let me know, and we can reschedule. 343-4729 or [email protected] . I have been locking my front door between appointments. If I don't come to the door within a moment, please press the Ring device on the porch and it will alert me. I will come out to your car for "curbside" service. I plan to keep working on this limited basis as long as I am healthy and not ordered to shut down. Things are changing very quickly, but be assured that I will contact you if I must cancel your appointment. Thanks everyone for your continued support and loyalty!

So glad I did not work today. A car ran through the orchard, plowed down a couple of trees, and smashed part of our fence. The driver was taken by ambulance and the passenger was shook up but seemed okay. No animals were harmed. We have some repairs to do!

Hope everyone is staying healthy and safe. Here is some new information regarding COVID-19 and pets: "WebMD: What precautions should you be taking if you’re looking after the pet of someone who has COVID-19? Weese: With animals, there are two things that we’re concerned about: 1) The animal’s fur being contaminated by the infected person and 2) the animal being infected.... With the fur, or hair coat, the duration of the virus being alive on the fur is probably hours to a day and probably not much more than that. We can do things like bathe them or wipe them down with a disinfectant wipe, and we can try to minimize our contact, at least for the first day or two and that takes the contamination of the fur out of the equation. Then we just need to worry about whether the animal is infected, and what that really comes down to is reducing contact with the animal and with its respiratory secretions. A lot of handwashing." https://blogs.webmd.com//cats-and-ferrets-can-be-infected-

Time for another update! I am still healthy, so I am still honoring all standing appointments since the state decreed that pet grooming is an "essential" service. However, if you are not comfortable leaving your home right now, PLEASE err on the side of caution and reschedule your appointment, I promise I will not be upset. :) As far as the experts know, it is unlikely that dogs and cats can catch COVID-19 or get sick from it. Corona is a large family of viruses. Dogs and cats have their own species-specific corona virus that does not affect humans. More info here: https://vetmed.illinois.edu/pet_column/coronavirus-pets/

I was finally able to find some official word about pet grooming in California. The pertinent info is on page 11 of the pdf I've linked. It seems that pet grooming has been deemed ESSENTIAL by the state. However, it appears that county laws trump state laws, and I have not yet gotten any word from Butte county. I am still healthy and I still plan to honor all standing appointments at Land of Paws. However, if you are in a vulnerable group or are not feeling well, please ...do not hesitate to call me at 343-4729 to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Thanks everyone for your support and loyalty. Stay safe! https://covid19.ca.gov//EssentialCriticalInfrastructureWor

Things are changing fast with COVID-19 and now all Californians are ordered to shelter in place. I am fortunate to work from home and I rarely leave the property anyway, so I've been "sheltering in place" for quite a while! I will continue to honor all standing appointments as long as I am healthy and allowed to work. If you choose to reschedule your appointment, please do not hesitate to call me at 343-4729, email [email protected], or use Facebook messenger to let me kn...ow. We are taking all recommended precautions, as we always have, but I encourage you to stay home if you do not feel comfortable being out and about. There seems to be some confusion as to what "essential services" are, and pet grooming is in a grey area. Veterinarians and pet supply stores are considered essential services, but grooming has not specifically been addressed. So I will continue to work until I am told to shut down. Stay safe and healthy, everyone!

Yes, Land of Paws is still open for all regular scheduled appointments! I plan to keep working as long as I remain healthy. We are taking the recommended precautions as we always have. We are unable to take new clients at this time. What you can do: If you're feeling ill and must cancel your appointment, please do so! If you send someone else to drop off and pick up your pet, please call/email me to let me know. Please arrive on time (not early) for your appointment.... I try to schedule in such a way that there will not be more than one client in the lobby at any given time, so sticking to the schedule will ensure that we don't have a crowd of people arriving at once. I would be happy to come out to your car to pick up your pet, if you prefer not to enter the shop. Just call 343-4729, and leave a message if needed to give me a heads-up. Payments: If you'd rather not exchange money in person, you can pay through my Paypal account at [email protected] . Please everyone, stay safe and don't panic! We'll get through this!
