I’m still buzzing from the energy and community joy at the *Dumplings for Unity* fundraiser. We came together and raised $7,400 for @goodgoodeatz - an organization working to keep residents of Oakland Chinatown nourished and safe amidst two pandemics: COVID-19 and systemic racism. A big heartfelt thank you to Ms. Tarika Lewis, Trinh, Tommy, Christine and Allison for sharing the vital work happening in the Bay Area and our cross-cultural history. And the biggest props to Adri...an @mykitsunecafe @morihouse for leading such a meaningful event and teaching us his family dumpling recipes to boot. May this kind of collective action keep us spiritually well fed and inspired to continue on. In solidarity, Erin

Today is the #DayOfRemembrance for Japanese American incarceration. On this day in 1942, President Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066, allowing the government to incarcerate Japanese Americans. The move into detention centers forced over 110,000 people to sacrifice their possessions, property, and even split up their families. We're honoring survivors of incarceration and racial profiling today. Via @18millionrising This photo was taken at the Santa Anita Assembly Center i...n 1942. Originally a race track, the land was converted into a detention center. Thousands of Japanese Americans were forced to live in the horse stables. . . . My business is not a tiny baby that I have to nurture and protect. But a fully grown, older than me, ancient entity that has chosen me to help it manifest in this time and space, for its purpose. Not mine. Instead of serving it, I’m asking it for guidance. Easy, light, free. - @simone.grace.seol Via @melissaelysian because she knew that I 100% needed these words in my life

When Qi flow becomes deficient (weak), excess (stagnation) or wrong movement (rebellious/sinking) illness may result. Now more than ever it is important to consider how to secure healthy Qi energy to support vitality and immunity. Qi deficiency affects everyone differently and some of us are more suscepti...ble to this type of depletion depending on constitution and lifestyle. Chén Pí - Aged Tangerine Peel Energetics: Bitter, Acrid, Aromatic, Warm Meridians: Lung, Spleen, Stomach... This common food scrap is the ultimate food as medicine. It helps with indigestion, bloating, belching and nausea by regulating energy (Qi). This movement invigorates the body to get rid of phlegm and damp heaviness. Traditionally it’s aged for years and turns a deep green color. How we you can throw 1/2 of a fresh tangerine peel into your pot of rice, soups or beans while cooking. Or steep a bit with your tea- it really brings out the citrus in a cup of early grey. And while the peel moves energy down and clears phlegm, the flesh of the fruit actually generates phlegm. So don’t eat citrus or drink loads of OJ when you’re congested! Get your vitamin C a different way. We’ll learn more about Chen Pi and other citrus in *All Qi Everything* this Saturday 1/30.

If these jars could talk. I started with a dozen or so of these jars filled with roots. Just enough to make a handful of very simple formulas that I learned from my teacher Dr. Hua Ling Xu. Over the years, I added jars as I expanded my understanding. I added jars during times of self-doubt and struggle. I added jars to grow with the needs of my community. ... These jars are a visual reminder of the depth and diversity of East Asian medicine. And to always honor the roots.

Bonsai!!! Tea An herbal tea blend to move Qi stagnation, reduce heat and nourish Blood. Minty and lightly sweet. I think of it as a complement to the formula Xiao Yao Tang. The energy of this tea is like the scene in Karate Kid when Mr Miyagi throws his fists in the air and yells *BANZAIII*. Banzai is a Japanese exclamation meaning *ten thousand years* for long life, used like a cheer or send off. A big, happy, free feeling.... Growing up grandpa would yell this to us and I always thought that he was saying *BONSAIII* like the tree. So now it’s a cherished memory and the name of this tea blend.
