Aloha Kkou, Mahalo nui loa (Thank you very much) for your support for Paddle for Kids benefiting Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego. As you may be aware of ...the severity and concern that COVID-19 (also known as Coronavirus) has brought, and the well-being of the community is our top priority. Paddle for Kids 2020 has been postponed until April 2021, more information to come. This decision was bitter sweet, as we had so much in store for you all. We are following the current guidelines of the CDC and health care officials. We want to protect our fellow paddlers and especially the kids of Rady Children’s Hospital. While we are disappointed to be postponing Paddle for Kids California until spring 2021, the kids at Rady Children’s need our advocacy and fundraising today and every day, regardless of where we will be this April 25. Now more than ever, it’s critical that we invest in our healthcare systems and give the kids at Rady Children’s the support they deserve. Please make a critically important gift today to the Peckham Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders at give.rchsd.org/goto/paddleforkids. Thank you for understanding that despite this date postponement, the goal remains the same: reminding the patients and families faced with a cancer diagnosis that they are not alone and that we are here to support them. Donate here to do just that. http://give.rchsd.org/si//MiracleMakers/MiracleMakers-DIY We ask that you all continue to follow the guidelines of the Federal, State and local government, by continuing to wash your hands, practice respiratory etiquette and social distancing of 6 feet. Please know that the Paddle for Kids committee is grateful for the support of the community, the City of San Diego, The Walter Munk Foundation, PepsiCo, Rickaroons, EWG Printing, Charlie’s Best Bread, Casey Birkdale with Rady Children’s Hospital, and Scott Heath at Fox 5 San Diego. As well as people outside our organization like: Billy Whitford Chuck Baker Scott Helm Outrigger Canoe Clubs that jumped full on to support this event: Kanaka Hoe Wanaao Team Arizona Kapoliokaehukai I want to thank our team of wonderful dedicated volunteers who have made this journey a pretty smooth one and special thanks to Uncle Kimokeo, it is because of his inspiration and guidance that this event took form and will continue into next year. Should you have questions, please feel free to contact us at [email protected]. Malama Pono (We must all take care), Kim Bolivar Paddle for Kids Event Director Hawaii Global Outrigger Canoe Voyagers

Fellow paddlers, With the recommendations of the County Board of Health and the CDC becoming more stringent every day, the Board of KPEOCC has decided to cancel all practices until the 6th of April. SCORA also advocates this and all the other Southern California clubs are canceling their practices as well. Although I would love to paddle with everyone, it seems the prudent course of action to cancel as least temporarily. I will update the affected practices. I will also send out an email tomorrow with some thoughts on alternatives to paddling the OC6 to get ready for the season and to stay in shape. Thanks, Bobby Compton, Head Coach For all the members of the Board of Directors
