Heal Your Hunger 24.04.2021

There have been so many changes in my life over the past 1.5 years...the biggest one being the ending of my marriage. While still maintaining a close friendship, ending a relationship that has spanned my entire adult life has been the biggest decision of my life. Over the past year, I have remained curious, open, and excited about the possibilities for my life. I have taken things one day at a time, choosing to not make any plans, and instead, to let God guide my way. It has ...been so wonderful to see what (and who) have shown up, like teachers, friends, and new adventures to be experienced. More recently, it's been the introduction of a new sport, cycling, thanks to my guy, who is an avid (and former pro) cyclist. Having grown up overweight by 50 extra pounds (chronic emotional eater), I never considered myself to be an athlete. I am quickly debunking that old self-concept and witnessing my body's wonderful strength and agility as I increase my speed and distance each day, all while having fun, with no pressure to perform. I have tapped into and listened to my heart. I connected with my divine spirit, first by honoring the divine discontent, then by embracing my divine right to live happy, joyous, and free. This birthright doesn't come without a price, however, which I have paid by addressing and clearing whatever has blocked my spiritual channel through which God's love flows. It has required diligent self-care, such as meditation, prayer, good sleep, healthy food choices, sunshine, physical movement, and a commitment to focusing daily on expressing light and love in the world. If you are feeling like you have some form of divine discontent, listen to that. Stay curious and open to making changes in your life so you can live in peace. Don't suffer...life is too short. No matter what your circumstances, you deserve to feel whole. But only you can make that decision and claim it for yourself. Tricia

Funny but true. I knew this all too well .... It was a typical Friday night. After a long week of work, and of stressing and feeling down on myself about just about anything and everything, I stopped at the store and purchased my favorite comfort foods: Popcorn, cookies, ice cream (2 pints, because I know myself, and one isn’t enough), Hershey’s kisses, a few Cliff bars, cereal, and milk. Food was what I used for distraction from uncomfortable emotions. But I didn’t just eat ...to take the edge off. More often than I could count, once I started eating, I lost control. Diets and eating plans alone will not stop emotional eating for a sustainable period of time. It is only a temporary solution. A longer-lasting solution is one that goes way beyond food. The best treatment plan is threefold: It addresses the physical, emotional, and spiritual. Here are some tips to get you started. Physical: have a simple plan of eating that eliminates addictive foods like sugar and carbohydrates (carbs metabolize into sugar, which is highly addictive) and includes eating only three times a day. Emotional: having effective tools for facing and healing uncomfortable emotions is essential. When you are no longer tipped over by strong emotions you can feel more in control around food and make healthier choices. Spiritual: one of the keys to having more emotional balance is establishing a self-care ritual that helps to lessen daily stress. This can include spiritual practices like prayer and meditation. It’s impossible to quit sugar .... this is something I hear from my clients all the time. Before my clients start working with me they either have never tried to quit sugar or have failed in their attempts. The truth is, they haven’t uncovered the true problem yet- the underlying causes that drive them to the kitchen and make them feel out of control. Or ....... It’s impossible to quit because sugar is everywhere! I'm not going to lie, sugar IS everywhere, even in foods you think are healthy for you. You have to take baby steps to identify and heal the void that you’re trying to fill with food. I struggled myself. I went on plenty of diets to try and lose weight, my cravings for sweets always undermined my resolve. I just couldn’t leave my favorite foods alone. The good news is you don’t have to go another day beating yourself up because you’re addicted to sugar... you can kick this habit for good and I can help you. Join me for The Quit Sugar Challenge and discover my proven, step-by-step process to quit sugar. I will coach you to success and you’ll feel supported by hundreds of other women who will be next to you cheering you on. https://www.healyourhunger.com/5-day-journey-to-sugar-free/ Tricia

Hi, my name is Tricia and I am a former sugar addict. My favorite foods were sugar, starch, and fat. I always had my radar out for foods that combined all three! I routinely binged on sugar and felt terrible. Sugar not only made me gain a lot of weight (50 pounds), but it inflamed my body and created all kinds of health issues. I tried curbing my sugar intake numerous times, but I always managed to sneak it back into my diet. And once I did, I’d be back to the races and hooke...d on sugar, yet again. The only thing that worked for me was to quit sugar for good. But I know that’s easier said than done! At least that’s what people think... Thankfully, I finally found a way. You can too. I created the Quit Sugar Challenge to help. I’m so excited to give you my entire system for quitting sugar. And you won’t have to give up your enjoyment of food! I will give you tons of recipes that will enable you to continue to enjoy sweet things...but without the harmful effects of sugar. So join me for this super fun and exciting journey to freedom from sugar’s bondage. https://www.healyourhunger.com/5-day-journey-to-sugar-free/ Tricia

Becoming more compassionate toward yourself takes a bit of practice but the rewards are oh-so-delicious! Know what you want. Self-criticism points only at what you want to get away from (the pain) so shift your focus onto what you want (the pleasure). Get super specific about it, write it down and keep your list somewhere as a visible reminder of what you want. Respond with self-compassion. Every time you experience negative feelings like guilt, anger or sadness, ...you have a choice to be compassionate toward yourself. Speak to yourself as if you are supporting a friend. It happens. It’s okay. What’s one thing I can do next time that would feel better in the end? Forgive yourself. Nobody is perfect. Everybody makes mistakes. I am worthy whether my performance measures up to my ideals, or not. Be grateful. Reframe the situation: Thank you for this challenge...it’s making me stronger, wiser, kinder, and smarter! Add self- compassion into your life and start seeing yourself in a more positive light. Self-compassion is how you can begin to love yourself. You deserve that. Tricia See more

We gain weight usually when we eat more calories than our bodies can burn. This means, essentially, that we are eating too much. And if we are eating food that our bodies don’t need in order to function, there’s a reason.. That reason is usually emotional. So it makes sense that if we stop emotional eating - provided there are no medical issues, we will lose weight. Sometimes even without exercise!... Why? Because when you address the underlying causes (which are internal), the healing process begins. The first step I recommend is taking care of your mind. So when you feel the need to start eating unconsciously, instead, try the following: 1. Listen to your favorite song 2. Go for a walk outdoors 3. Read a book you enjoy or journal 4. Label and validate your feelings 5. Find a hobby you love 6. Text or call a loved one 7. Do a breathing exercise All of these practices help calm your mind and body and help you cope with emotional triggers that lead to emotional eating. If you’d like additional information on how to recover from Emotional Eating, then I’d love to help you. The first step is to discover your relationship food type. Hi Everyone, I see quite a few new faces here, so I wanted to take a few moments to introduce (or reintroduce) myself! I’m Tricia, I'm an Emotional Eating Expert.... I’ve made it my life’s mission to help hundreds of people all across the globe overcome a variety of eating disorders and addictions after battling my own emotional eating disorder. My struggles began in early childhood, when I attempted to cope with life’s stresses and emotional pain by overeating and other destructive behaviors. Continuing into adolescence, I eventually gained more than 50 pounds. Fortunately, after a lot of inner work and creating a lifestyle steeped in positive self-care, self-love and improved self-esteem, I was able to heal what was truly going on internally. I have maintained a fifty-pound weight loss for over 30 years now, as a result. Over the past three decades I have studied the addictive personality, and offer programs worldwide on the topic of emotional eating and food addiction, sharing insight on what drives people to overeat and a simple plan to stop. The first step to releasing the shame (and ultimately, the weight) is to identify your Food Relationship Type. When you know this, you can recognize you’re not alone and can begin to develop a healthier relationship with food instead. I’d love to help you get started. When I struggled with emotional eating, it wasn’t because I lacked will power. I struggled with emotional eating because I lacked the ability to control what was going on inside my mind and my heart. I was often overwhelmed, stressed and afraid, and when I had self-critical thoughts or erratic emotions - I would turn to food for comfort and companionship.... Why? Because I wasn’t taking care of what was going on internally. I battled with this for years. And that’s why I’ve made it my mission in life to help others avoid the battle I once experienced. So, I want to ask you today.. How are you REALLY doing? Drop a heart below to describe how you’re feeling today. XO, Tricia See more

Why do so many people who turn to God about their weight end up failing? When you pray to God and he still doesn’t remove your food problem, it’s not that God isn’t listening - it’s that there are other steps you need to take in order to let God help you. And the first step is to understand what the real problem is.... What is it that’s REALLY going on internally? Being overweight is a symptom of overeating. And overeating is a symptom of what’s eating you. What have you done for yourself today? What form of self-care did you incorporate to be happy? What do you need to address internally that’s triggering you? Check out my self-care checklist above and please take what you need. Tricia See more

Emotional eaters use food as an addiction to escape. Like all addicts, we typically have a part of us that just doesn’t want to deal. And we often have so much fear that we feel as though we just can’t cope. Life seems overwhelming, scary, and just too much for us to face day in and day out. We feel tired of being a "good boy" or "good girl," doing things right or being on top of our game. There’s a part of us that just feels like checking out. Of course, everyone needs... to escape sometimes. Everyone has stress in their lives, and everyone needs to get away from that stress. That’s why we take vacations! It’s also why we go to the movies or read books or do whatever kind of recreation we like to do, physical or otherwise. These are all healthy ways to escape the rigors of life. What’s different about emotional eaters is that we pervert this normal human tendency to the point that we crave escape and have a strong aversion to reality. We don’t want to deal with the reality...with responsibilities...with feelings. We would much rather bury our heads in the sand and food helps us do that. It helped me do that. Until I did a lot of inner work, and truly healed. I’ve been free from the burdens of old wounds that led to emotional eating for years now, and would like to help you do the same. If you’re struggling with emotional eating, I’d like to invite you to take my Quiz (link is below)...also feel free to send me a Direct Message. I would love to help. Tricia www.healyourhunger.com

One of the most challenging things in this entire world is feeling healthy when you’re starving on the inside. When you’re: Stressed out and overwhelmed Burnt out... If you can relate to this feeling or have been there before, I’m here to tell you that there is help. I’m here to help you.because I, too, have been there. I struggled with emotional eating for years. I was 50 pounds overweight, unhappy, and desperate for a change. I knew I needed to do some internal work to address what was going on inside to fix my battle with emotional eating. So I did. And I want to help you do the same. I’ll be happy when I make $25,000 more a year." I’ll be happy when I’m 20 pounds thinner. I’ll be happy when I have a flatter stomach. I’m sure you can relate to this feeling because we’ve all been there.... And the response isjust ditch the negative self-talk. If it were that simple, we all would. .But it isn’t that easy. You don’t just wake up one day and love your body or love the skin you’re in. It takes a lot of inner work to BE HAPPY. TO RECOVER. TO HEAL FROM OLD WOUNDS. You have to be willing to address what’s going on internally to fix what’s happening externally. So my question for you today is this What’s preventing you from being happy, and how are you planning to address it? What negative beliefs are you listening to? Have you stopped lately to take a serious inventory of what’s going on inside of your head and heart? You don’t want to look back at your life 20 years from now wishing you had done things differently.still thinking I’ll be happy when. Tricia See more

Life is busy. Most of us have become multi-taskers, always planning and thinking about the next thing... But focusing on the future diminishes the experience of the moment.... While getting something done today so you can relax tomorrow sounds like a brilliant idea that fuels achievement, it causes you to rush through today’s tasks so you can enjoy tomorrow’s bliss. ...And I’m here to tell you, it rarely works that way. Have you noticed you never get it all done? There’s always more. There will NEVER be a magical time when there’s nothing left to do. You’re always going to be busy, and there’s always going to be something to cross off your to do list. It’s how you manage your time that determines your quality of life. Don’t be the person that waits for Friday. Don’t live a life you need a break from. Find your passion. Find what makes you come alive. And always dedicate time to self-care and loving yourself no matter what. Being busy will never earn you a badge of honor. Tricia See more

I’m sure you can relate to the feeling... You quit eating sugar for some time...but find that it’s the first thing you turn to when you’re stressed. You experience a breakup...so you turn to the carton of ice cream in your freezer for comfort.... You have a rough day at work...so you whip up a batch of chocolate chip cookies to ease the pain. You have a falling out with a friend...and you (practically) eat the entire cake because of it. Or maybe you’re someone who can’t eat just one cookie or piece of candy. If so, then maybe it’s time to take some action I’m a former sugar addict who knows all about those awful sugar binges. In fact, I was 50 pounds overweight on account of it! But thankfully, for years I’ve been living sugar-free (and loving it!) and want to show you how you can, too, with my upcoming Quit Sugar Challenge which kicks off October 12th! Just do THIS. Just forget THAT. Just, just, just..... What people don’t understand is that someone who’s experiencing depression, anxiety, an addiction, or a disorder - aren’t able to simply fix the problem. We don’t just wake up one day and our struggles magically disappear. It’s much deeper than that. But with the right approach and tools, whatever you’re battling can be conquered and you CAN heal. Remember, the strongest people are not those who show strength in front of us - but those who win battles we know nothing about. If you’re struggling with emotional eating or just need someone to talk to, feel free to send me a Direct Message. I’d love to be there for you and help you any way I can. Tricia

We all know that change is constant and that to get what we want out of life, change is vital. But knowing it isn’t enough. There has to be a way to make change fun and easy. A very simple way to create change is to dream about what you want to do. It’s as simple as daydreaming! Visualize the idea and why it’s important to you. Know what you want and why you want it. I invite you to start with a goal of creating time for yourself every day. This is important because i...t’s one way to practice self-love as a step toward healing emotional eating. Write down exactly what you want and why you want it. What your game plan is and how you plan to get there. Example: I want to find a job I ACTUALLY love: Then list all the things you’re passionate about and what you think you’d enjoy doing. I want to buy a house: List the ways you plan to save each month towards your down payment. I want to be in a relationship that’s healthy and loving: Look out for red flags and trust your intuition. Always say no to anything that isn’t that. You’ll save yourself a lot of time and heartbreak. Maybe you’ve convinced yourself that you don’t have time for you or you’re stuck. Use this mechanism to do something meaningful for yourself. I always emphasize the importance of self-care because I believe it’s imperative to one’s own healing journey, especially when it comes to emotional eating. Now you tell me...what is one accomplishment you’ve made? Would love to hear in the comment section below. See more

I’m not good enough. I’m not smart enough. I don’t have what it takes to accomplish this.... I used to say these things to myself all the time - and believe them. Until one day I decided that enough was ENOUGH. Understanding that your untrue beliefs are not actually true is the FIRST step in changing them But how do we do that?! Experience has shown me that there is no greater bully than self-doubt. So a feeling of safety is vital for us to begin unraveling unhealthy beliefs about ourselves. Unfortunately, we hold on to these beliefs as if they were our dearest friends, rather than the bullies that they are. So to let them go. We must feel safe and confident that we can live without them, that we can venture into new territory with new beliefs that will expand our consciousness and our positive experience of life. There is no switch that can turn off these self-deprecating beliefs we’ve held for so long. They are deeply ingrained and take time to reverse. But once you commit to your healing path, you’ll be well on your way. And as I’ve learned, you can’t do this alone. Having others around you who can hold a vision of what is actually true (that you are capable, good, and inherently beautiful) will make all the difference. This is why a community of supportive people is so vital. Let others mirror for you when your self-reflection is shattered Take a look at your circle right now. Are they helping you win? Are they cheering you on as you discard old beliefs and move to the next level?
