As part of the Arts and Culture Master Plan process, we had the opportunity to hear from our community about their vision for a creative and vibrant arts community during a series of conversations March 8-11. All of the live recordings can be found under the Videos tab on our page. The City of Healdsburg has been partnering with Farm to Pantry since 2009 to glean the oranges from the citrus trees in Plaza park. These oranges will be donated to local food banks, youth services, and meal-sites all around Sonoma County. We thank Farm to Pantry for gleaning our citrus trees and providing this great resource to the community. For more information on how you can volunteer with Farm to Pantry, please visit https://www.farmtopantry.org/gleaning

Early this morning we lost one of our valued heritage trees, a Valley Oak located on the 3 North Street site. In 2014 we started to see the tree's health decline, likely due to years of parking on the tree root system. In an attempt to minimize any further decline we restricted parking around the root structure and began an enhanced monitoring and management program that included selective structural pruning to reduce the weight of the tree canopy. Unfortunately our efforts were not successful: the tree came down overnight, likely due to root rot and continued decline of the tree's health. We will be analyzing how this majestic beauty can live on and be repurposed as part of the 3 North Street project (https://www.ci.healdsburg.ca.us//3-North-Street-Farmers-Ma), so stay tuned for updates.
