The Rally Committee is pleased to announce that our 2020 EAA Air Academy Scholarship application is now available. Complete information and the application form may be found on our website: http://www.hwdairrally.org/scholarship Once again we are offering up to two (2) full tuition and travel scholarships. This is for high school students (16-18 years old on the day camp begins) to attend the 2020 EAA Advanced Air Academy in Oshkosh, Wisconsin during the July 24-August 1, 2...020 session. Over the last 11 years, the Hayward Air Rally has sent over 25 students to this unique aviation summer camp. We are happy to continue offering this special opportunity to students interested in pursuing an aviation-related career. Don't delay starting your application! There are several documents to gather including academic transcripts, letters of recommendation and a personal essay. A complete checklist is includied in the application. Completed applications must be received by the Committee February 1, 2020. The recipients will be notified by March 1, 2020. We are officially one week away from our annual Hayward Airport Open House! Free airplane rides are available for kids between the ages of eight and 17 courtesy of the Experimental Aircraft Association’s Young Eagles Program. Registration for rides is required and will be on a first-come, first-serve basis starting Sunday, Sept. 15, at 1 a.m. The Young Eagles Program is a national program sponsored by EAA and the local chapter VAA29 in Hayward. It is designed to expose youn...g people to aviation by providing FREE rides in private aircraft flown by experienced local EAA pilots. Nationally over 2 million rides have been given.
