I just received the approval from @iaedpfoundation that I am a CEDRD! That stands for Certified Eating Disorders Registered Dietitian. It was quite the road to get there and because of cost and additional training it was over 7 years in the making. I had to take 4 online classes, write a case study, get supervision for 3 years, and gain many hours working with people with eating disorders. I started working with people with eating disorders in 2012, and it had been my dream f...or years to be where I’m at in my career and practice. My goal is to get the supervisor credential to help train more dietitians on ethical care for people with eating disorders. I am aware of the recent petitions and gatekeeping that iaedp has been accused of. The credential is expensive to get (that’s why it took me literally years). I am hopeful that iaedp continues to respond to and listen to clinicians involving ways to make the training and education more inclusive to people of all experiences and backgrounds. I am hopeful that we all continue to learn and grow and listen to others. We can work together to have the tough conversations and the humility to realize we don’t know everything but can be understanding and supportive of others.
