CDFW is seeking applicants for the 2021 Lost or Abandoned Commercial Dungeness Crab Trap Gear Retrieval Program. Removal of lost or abandoned trap gear reduces ...marine life entanglement risk during the summer months when large numbers of whales are present off California. Removal also reduces navigational hazards which pose safety risks and can impact other fishing operations. The program allows permitted individuals to collect lost or abandoned commercial Dungeness crab gear after the close of the season and to receive compensation for retrieved gear. Permit applications are limited to sport or commercial fishing organizations, non-profit organizations, and local government entities such as ports or harbor districts. More information about the program is available on CDFW’s Whale Safe Fisheries web page: https://wildlife.ca.gov/conservation//whale-safe-fisheries

After years of community input and planning, the Wilmington Waterfront Promenade project is making visible progress. Port of Los Angeles Civil Engineer and Proj...ect Manager Hugo Cisneros introduces the project, while Los Angeles Harbor Commissioner Lucia Moreno-Linares and Director of Waterfront & Commercial Real Estate Director Michael Galvin discuss the timeline of the project, the strides made so far, and what visitors can expect in the future. The Wilmington Waterfront development includes two signature projects: the Wilmington Waterfront Promenade project, which will feature a waterfront promenade, pedestrian plaza, parking lot, realignment of Water Street adjacent to the railroad tracks, and parking northwest of Banning's Landing Community Center; and Avalon Promenade and Gateway project, which will feature a pedestrian bridge along Avalon Boulevard providing pedestrian access to the Wilmington Waterfront Promenade, as well as an arch bridge, entry plaza with an entry gateway feature, landscaping, hardscaping, parking and other improvements.
