Back to School Packet Alert!!! We have a packet of information that you will need before your student(s) returns next week. Please plan to drive thru the Hancock Parking Lot tomorrow, Thursday, either from 12-1 or from 4-5p to pick one up for each of your students. In addition, if you can't come Thursday, volunteers will be in the parking again on Saturday from 9-10a to hand out the remaining packets. Please note: There are 3 forms that must be given to your teacher on your student's first day back. Look for the yellow paper! It's very important we have these completed forms next week. Thank you and we are so excited to see so many of you soon!
If your student will be returning to campus for instruction starting April 12 and he/she has a chronic medical condition that has symptoms similar to COVID-19, this form will allow our school nurse to have all the information she will need to prevent your student from being sent to the health office unnecessarily. Have your pediatrician complete the form and return to the school office ASAP. https://drive.google.com//1S02jHP-vn6rECd1zqxnsy2Dte/view
Today is the deadline to respond to the district survey regarding your choice for Phase 2 - onsite instruction. If you do not respond today, your student may automatically be limited to the Online Only model. You will need your child's student ID# http://track.spe.schoolmessenger.com//RgRiNS9IP0QtaHR0cHM6
Beginning April 5, there will be changes to Food Services' "Grab n Go" curbside meals. Distribution will no longer be done at Hancock. However, all our students can receive curbside meals at Serra High School. Beginning April 12, students participating in the hybrid model for learning will be able to receive school lunch on-site on the days they are learning in person.
Check your email* for an important letter from Principal Hightower. There is a mandatory survey for all students regarding our return to school in April. The link is also on our school website. https://www.hancock.sandiegounified.org//mandatory_survey_. *If you are not receiving our email communications, please contact the office to update your email address on file.
A new month means a new pillar of character to focus on! January's pillar is FAIRNESS, which means not favoring any one person above another and allowing everyone involved an equal opportunity to succeed. Ask your student how they can show fairness in their words and actions to strengthen their pillar!
It's not too late to get a flu shot! Check out the flyer below for info on a FREE flu shot clinic this weekend.
Good Morning Hancock Families, This is Principal Hightower with an important message. We apologize for the late notice. After much deliberation the PTF and I have agreed it would be best at this time to cancel Friday’s drive through/drive around event altogether. If you visited the PTF page we were trying to create an alternate event, but unfortunately there have been many outbreaks and exposures in the city and even within our own Hancock Community. The risk of our event b...ecoming a catalyst of someone else in our community coming down with the virus was something the PTF nor I were willing to take responsibility for. We will plan for something in 2021 when things go back to a safer level. Please check in with your teacher or their See Saw or Google Classroom assignments later today. They may be offering a check-in and fun activity for tomorrow morning instead and a chance to say Happy Holidays to their students. Parents on the PTF page are asking how to get a gift to a Hancock staff member. At this time we are asking to hold onto those items until 2021 if you can. You can also send an email to the staff member. We ask that you please not come up to the school to drop off because we do not want to risk exposure to our office or custodial staff. We appreciate everyone’s support in this matter and look forward to an event in 2021.
