I have a confession to make. I struggle with root shadowing. It’s my weakness when it comes to blondes. Simply because I hardly ever do it! My blondes wanna be as bright and light as possible so I create that with placement of lightener. I use baby lights to bring that lightness to the root and create a very soft natural root melt at the same time. And I use balayage to brighten those ends so you get the ultimate punch of blonde. Foil work is an art and laying out that patter...n to give you that desired lightness and depth is one of my favorite parts of my job Swipe to see her before It’s been over a year since I’ve seen her. PROJECT ALERT. You may have seen my sneak peak yesterday so here is my story. This is a new client to me and I’m so thankful she trusted me! She gets married in a month and wanted to her hair to be more natural for the big day. She has been putting ion color in teal on her hair at home. If your a hairdresser just hearing ion anything makes your head hurt and on top of that we all know green is a beast to tango with. I started with Joico color eraser and 5 vol just to see wh...at I could get to budge out..nothing but I did get a little lift where I didn’t want it. So I switched gears and did a Malibu CPR for 45mins then washed with Malibu un-do-goo shampoo and we actually lighten up quite a bit! Then we did a real good hair cut and got to adding dimension back in. I did a mix of a reverse balayage placement and a foilayage to add brightness in the mid shaft. I DIDNOT touch her green ends with bleach. Instead I just used toner to cancel out the rest of the green in the shampoo bowl. My stomach was in my butt but I was so happy with how it turned out for a first go around. It always amazes me what is possible in a color correction. This one was definitely so fun! I’m assuming California will have similar if not the same guidelines to follow. With that said- I will ask all clients to provide masks for themselves as I cannot accommodate everyone with one.
