I lost my dad Before I get to all the good stuff of the fundraising raffle I want to explain why I’m doing this. I know everyone wants a cure to cancer cause we... all know it flat out sucks. #fuckcancer But you need to know all the real stuff about it. This is why I want a cure for cancer, I don’t want anyone to feel or go through ANY of the below. hearing dad’s voice crack when he tells you how much he misses the boys, I can still hear it hearing dad has Lymphoma after MONTHS of his primary Dr saying it’s just kidney stones. guilt, if I had pushed for the scans just weeks earlier could I have changed everything looking at the scans of the cancer, amazed he’s even alive having to call dad’s best friend to tell him about the cancer cause he knows he can’t make the call himself sleepless nights in hospital/ICU rooms watching the nurse in hazmat looking outfit bring in the chemo. praying this poison can save him holding it together in front of the family so they can have faith it will all be ok not making it to the hospital before he’s admitted to ICU, intubated and sedated so he would know I would be by his side fighting having to leave the room every time they rotated his body position from side to side because the fear of his heart stopping when they do it again seeing dad mouth help me when he couldn’t speak the words hoping dad hears my voice, praying he knows how much I loved him exhaustion of half a life in a hospital and half being home, working, being mom and taking care of a house. telling him it’s ok to let go, knowing you don’t want to say it making the decision to cut the machines and it weighing on you forever calling his best friend (across the country) to say it’s time watch your mother who’s held it so strong finally lose it when the love of her life takes his last breath not knowing how to go on without your dad knowing how alone your mom is the pit of my stomach take my breath away feeling every time I think about this entire cancer event.
