Our own Jeremy Danzig and his squad have been part of the effort to enforce the lockdown on Bnei Brak (an ultra-orthodox/Hasidic community of about 200,000 people) for the last 4 days. He has done three 12 hour plus shifts already in Bnei Brak. Jeremy reported to us that for every person in Bnei Brak that was upset with them or reacted to them negatively, at least 10X were grateful for them being there, and many wanted to give them gifts, which they could not accept, and othe...rs left them sweet notes. The experience was not what he initially expected and he said it was actually very heartwarming overall. After hearing about his experience and seeing one of the beautiful notes he received from one of the residents of Bnei Brak, my son’s wonderful and incredibly sweet fiancé wrote a post about his take on his experience. That post went viral. As a result, one of the most popular morning shows in Israel asked to interview Jeremy and his fiancé. That interview is linked here. Certainly one of the most important messages from Jeremy’s experience and from this interview is to avoid subscribing to caricatures of groups of people and continue to treat and to judge all people as individuals.
