Motivation Monday. ***LONG POST***He came to me 3 yrs ago as a little niño, wearing a left leg brace but never said why he was wearing it. I told him to start taking it off because it was hindering his movement and that he had to practice/forcing his leg to move with him and strengthen it. I could tell he was embarrassed but I made him work on it anyway and I didn’t ask questions about it. In fact I made him fight south paw to work with his strengths. You see Jason only just told me after 3 yrs, he has Mild Cerebral Palsy & Left Spastic Hemiplegia. He sparrs with the grown ass adults, wrestled on the school team, and practices Jiu-Jitsu. Now he’s talking with recruiters to get into the Marines. I’m proud of you @jzr_998 and the man you are becoming. Drop a supportive line for this amazing kid who is also my friend.

A good coach will always give it you straight. They will say "No, you're not ready" or "You're not working hard enough" or "It's time, let's do this" A good coach will show up when the student doesn't. A good coach will never forget the dates of competitions or big tournaments. A good coach will never have "better things to do". A good coach will never lie for their own monetary gain. When you find one of these coaches, do everything to keep them. They are far and few between and have students waiting for their attention, someone will easily take your spot and you will probably never get it back. Work hard, stay in condition, stay focused, and you will become the athlete you dreamed of.
