Chaturanga! Last month certainly felt like one long chaturanga (plank) for us! Covid, wildfires, evacuations, power outages.. Wow! We are deeply moved and sad for the hundreds of families that lost their homes to the recent wildfires. In our case it came close, the fire was contained just half a mile up our road, luckily there was no damage and the town of Felton is safe. Although we're still without power, we've learned a few lessons in what's most valuable to us: friends a...nd family. ...and Cannabis! That's why during these weeks we decided to keep Ganja Yoga going and offered 4 sessions out a friend's house in Oakland. So helpful to stay connected with you all and to keep moving our bodies against the adversities Thanks to all who joined us and we invite others to continue stretching and breathing through these strange times. We are currently running on a generator, have wifi and plan to offer all our Ganja Yoga weekly classes and monthly Conscious Cannabis circle on the 26th. Breathing through this together Last Friday we got our first warning that something, other than the pandemic, was a bit off. The heat wave led to power outages that interrupted our Friday Ganja Yoga class. Something similar happened on Saturday during Conscious Cannabis, although we were more prepared and were able to push through on batteries, 4G signal and the group's intention to navigate a safe journey. The electrical storm on Saturday night was as beautiful as tragic. In... the short term it led us to a few days of power outage, but deeper in the forest it ignited over 22 spot fires that led to to the CZULightning fire complex which we are struggling with now. On Wednesday night, our car was packed and ready to head out when they confirmed the evacuation orders. Javi guided our family through one last Yoga class at that home, which we'd only lived in for 6 weeks. It was sad and also a relief to breathe, move and prepare our bodies and hearts for hard times. We finally evacuated Thursday morning and have landed safely with friends in the East Bay. We practice gratitude for what is most precious to us in these times: our friends, families and communities. Hoping you are safe and praying for those affected in these trying times of COVID, smoke and wildfires and all forms of suffering.
