How do you reach your dive site? Hm, this looks slower than a DPV underwater... wonder how fast it goes? #gratefuldive #uwtransport #dpvlife #dpv #scubadive #driveanddive

Thank you for the recognition of the many #cocoamermaids active in #marine #conversation! We will continue to persevere and be an example for other women of co...lor in the sciences #Repost @womeninoceanscience with @get_repost For many of us in the marine conservation community, a narrative that we’ve seen emerging on social media this week, is that for many WoC, they were often the only black woman on their university course and during their studies. For these women, this is not simply a narrative, but a stark reality which has perpetuated throughout many of their careers. - This week has provided us with a new opportunity to address this; to provide greater connections and to raise the voices of those who have felt muted or isolated within our industry. We’re not only going to amplify BIPOC voices of those within our existing community, but we’re searching for more black marine scientists, conservationists, naturalists and divers to share their stories. - We’re sharing this, so that you can also follow, support and amplify. Please share more inspiring black female conservationist voices & accounts with us in the comments! - Dr Ayana Elizabeth Johnson @ayanaeliza Dr Jeanette Davis @dr_ocean24 Stephanie Macdonald @marinememoirs J.D.
