We are back to our regular service times at 8:00 and 10:30 am tomorrow (9/13) with Sunday School from 9:30 to 10:15.

The order is in! The men of Grace Lutheran have finished their study of the first half of the book of Romans, and I just ordered the study materials for the second half. It should arrive from Concordia Publishing House next week. I may have also found a little something extra for each of the guys for them to bring on the journey of knowing God in His word better. It is a joy to go with these men on this study and I’m thankful for their hunger for the Word. We need more such men in these gray and latter days. The Scriptures give us Christ, which is as deep and real as it gets. Call or email the church office if you would like more info about the Men's Bible Study.

Family Retreat March 21 Have a son, daughter, or godchild under the age of five? An encore presentation of GLC’s Enduring Faith Foundations class for equipping parents to teach the Christian faith at home is scheduled for Saturday, March 21. Parents and godparents are warmly encouraged to attend! If you missed out on the Sunday morning class, teachers David and Laura Yow will be covering the same material at this family retreat. It is scheduled from 10:00 to 2:00. Lunch and... all materials will be provided; just bring something to take notes. Childcare will provided, too. Our guest speakers will be Rev. Scott and Julie Stiegemeyer. The Stiegemeyers live and work in Irvine. Scott teaches theology and bioethics at Concordia University, and Julie works in writing support at Pepperdine University. Scott and Julie have written numerous resources for adults and children, including two books they wrote together: Lutheranism 101 for Kids and Your Marriage by God's Design, both published by Concordia Publishing House. Julie has also produced numerous children's books to help parents share the faith, including Arch Books, devotional resources, and numerous children's titles. Scott and Julie look forward to talking about living within a Christian family, teaching the faith, and sharing resources with participants. There is no charge to attend, and previous experience not required -- just a hunger to learn how to teach the faith to your littles at home. This Wednesday Dec. 4 begins our midweek Advent service at 6:30 pm. Join us for a light soup supper at 5:45 and then into the sanctuary for our service.

Got young kids? Want to help them grow in the faith? Grace Lutheran has a class for you. It's a mini-class, just 6 weeks long, but geared toward dads and moms (grandparents and godparents, too) looking for tools, tips, and a little training you can use in the home. It's not a parenting class, but rather, our church providing quality Lutheran resources that you might never know existed for growing children in their knowledge of the Lord. Session 1 was exploring the Divine Service, Session 2 was the Holy Bible. Session 3 is this Sunday, so I guess you will just have to come find out! The class meets in the St. Paul room at 9:30. It's never easy getting the word out about these things, but we do have word of mouth, so let the new parents in your pew know about it, and see you Sunday!
