March 13, 2020 Grace Lutheran School is following both Lancaster School Districts lead and the LA County School Superintendent directions. Grace Lutheran School, Preschool and Childcare will be closed as of Monday, March 16, 2020 through March 30th. March 23-27 was the regularly scheduled Spring Break for Kindergarten through 8th grade. At this time, we plan on reopening School, Preschool and Childcare on Monday, March 30th.... There are currently no known cases of the Covid 19 in our valley, but as a proactive stance in minimizing the current health concerns, we feel this is the best decision. We are sorry for the disruption this is causing. We have everyone’s best interest in mind. There will be (limited times) administrative personnel in the office during these two weeks. We will continue to keep you updated via email. Those who paid for Spring Camp will be reimbursed. If you wish, we can credit your account for Summer Camp. We encourage you to follow state and federal guidelines in regards to public gathering. J Gynther, Principal Chris Calvert, Administrative Assistant Note: If you reply to this email please confirm that it is directed to Christine Calvert, [email protected]. Your reply cannot be delivered if you use our bulk email address ([email protected]).

How Grace is addressing health concerns, We are not operating in a mode of panic. We are closely monitoring the situation and following the LADPH. All high contact points are being disinfected every night, including but not limited to, desks, counters, handles, switches.... Showing and reminding how to properly wash hands, and the importance of frequency. Kids will be kids, but trying to help them limit touch contact. Increasing space between individual students in rooms. At this time, we remain open and will continue to provide on campus education and childcare. We know there are concerns about school closure. At this time, school closure is NOT recommended by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LADPH) for the Antelope Valley. The Los Angeles County Office of Education’s guidance is to only close a school at the direction of the LADPH. These decisions were made with thoughtful and thorough consideration, taking into account recommendations from local, state and national health organizations. We are committed to monitoring, evaluating and communicating regularly as we navigate this current health situation. Our 5th and 6th graders finished up their mummified chickens today. We’ve salted, spiced, and wrapped them. All that is left is burying them.
