Our nearby neighborhoods all around California are burning, smoke fills the sky and ashes are sprinkling down in the communities we share. We urge our friends, family and clients to take precautions - protect yourself and your loved ones. Here are a few ways you can do just that... Reduce your smoke exposure. If you have not been evacuated, stay inside. Keep your bathroom fans and window units turned off - these systems generally pull air from outside. Don't burn candle...s, wood burning stoves, fireplaces, use aerosol spray or vacuum, etc. - these activities can release more particles into your home. Keep smoke outside. Shut your windows and, if possible, get a portable air filter for your home. Change your A/C filter with a high efficiency filter and close the fresh air intake - this $10-$25 charge can help improve your indoor air quality (and should be done regularly anyway!) Keep track of fires near you... and be ready to evacuate if necessary.
