Thanks Leslie for this post. Good story on show why mobile home attack predatory investors. AND why GSMOL is so important to protect our homes.
Knowledge is power. The 2021 Senate Select Committee edition of the Mobile Home Residency Law is out. This is the law that gives the rights, and responsibilities, of most mobile home park residents in the State. You can get a tiny print copy of the law each year from your park owner. This Senate version is downloadable and searchable as a PDF file. Plus it has very clear common language explanations (FAQ's) of what the laws mean. You might be able to get a print copy f...rom State Senator's office. Good idea to ask them just to make sure they keep us in mind. This news comes first from the latest GSMOL Legislative Bulletin. Subscriptions to this frequent and valuable source of information of key mobile home issues is available free to all GSMOL members. Contact our office to subscribe. Here's the URL for the Senate's webpage to get this years edition. https://mobilehomes.senate.ca.gov/publications
Mobile home parks are valuable real estate investments. Like ATM's for investors. Even though this park has some rent protections under Carpenteria's ordinances, rents may still go up after this sale. Imagine how high rents could go without a Space Rent Stabilization Ordinance. Contact GSMOL if you would like information about getting rent protections or buying your park. Congratulations to Sandpiper Park GSMOL President Kathy Mattes and Sandpiper Homeowners Association President Arna Crittenden for your work protecting all your neighbors. http://www.coastalview.com//article_cfeef694-55ff-11eb-9f9
Trouble with an HCD park Audit? Som many had trouble twithhem that Senator Leyva worked to get a Stae Audit of the program. This video reports the findings; lots of room for improvement. GSMOl fully endorsed this work.
Who enforces the Mobilehome Residency law? (easy question if you've attended a GSMOl Roadshow with Corporate Counsel Bruce Stanton) I'll post the answer next Monday. Henry
May this New year be better for us all !
Do you have any neat technology or tricks for making our homes nicer? Here's one of mine (henry). The metal sides of my 7'8 home stop most cell phone signals from getting inside. I put in a cell phone signal booster. Went from sketchy 1 bar to solid three bars. Key is if you get signals outside the home. The booster catches those, sends them inside, and amplifies them. Many models exist. Here is the updated version of the one I bought in 2013. Makes participating in telephone business meetings a snap. https://www.wilsonamplifiers.com/weboost-home-room-signal-/
