Families and Friends of Golden Hill Little League, boy do we have a treat for you! As many of you know, the history of our league stretches all the way back to 1956. That history represents generations of players and families here in Fullerton that share our rich tradition. Mike was born in 1945 and g...rew up in Fullerton. He attended Golden Hill Elementary and played in the inaugural season of Golden Hill Little League (did you know our league takes its name from the school? It does!). Back then, the outfield was as clumpy as a cow pasture and our league certainly didn't have the facilities available to our players now. But the joy of youth baseball was every bit as vibrant back then as it is today. Dearest GHLL Families: It is with heavy hearts that we share with you that tragedy recently struck one of our own. Genevieve Raygoza, and her father, Luis Tovar were victims of the shootings in the City of Orange this past week. Genevieve’s sons, Nathaniel and Andres, are both playing for Golden Hill Little League teams this season. Words cannot possibly express our collective grief at this horrific and senseless tragedy. The thoughts and prayers of our entire GHLL family go... out to the Raygoza and Tovar families in this time of mourning. A $500 donation is being made on behalf of Golden Hill Little League . Dear Golden Hill Little League Families: Happy Opening Day and welcome to the 2021 Golden Hill Little League season! The uniforms are clean (for now), the fields are ready, and the players have all been practicing hard...so it must be time to PLAY! I can't imagine that any of us have ever been more eager to watch our kids play a ball game and it's finally here. This week, games start for all divisions!... I know we all wish we could be together watching a parade of kids stream across the outfield at Unocal Fields, but we just can't make that kind of gathering work just yet. Please see the updated player evaluation time slots on our website to make sure you adjust your schedule! Check-In Tables : Look for the GHLL Canopy When You Arrive! Bastanchury Park: We'll be in front of snack shack, which is in the parking lot... Fullerton Sports Complex: We'll be at the bottom of parking lot, between soccer field and Gary Carter Field Lions Field: We'll be at the pavilion at the entrance to the fields. Protocols : Please help us minimize crowding by adhering to the following: Do NOT attend if you have any COVID symptoms as listed by the CDC. Temperature checks will be taken at check-in. Only 1 spectator per player. Please leave siblings at home. Masks are required to be worn by all at all times. Players may remove their mask when they take the field, but should put them back on while waiting in the dugout to hit. No food, including seeds or chewing gum permitted during tryouts. Players should pack a water bottle as snack shacks are closed. Please leave the facility upon the completion of your player evaluation. Do not linger at the fields. Congratulations to the 2020-21 Board of Directors for Golden Hill Little League!

Parents: Our wait list remains very long for our Fall Training & Development (T.A.D.) Program, but we still need managers to accommodate getting these kids back on fields. Managers must feel comfortable running a baseball practice and doing so in strict accordance with the COVID-19 protocols that the league has published. GHLL Gauging Interest In 2020 Fall Training & Development (T.A.D.) Program As of July 30th, the California Department of Public Health has allowed a return to youth sports training, conditioning, and physical education under certain circumstances The Golden Hill Little League’s Fall 2020 T.A.D Program is able to meet these conditions and as of August 19, 2020 has been approved by the City of Fullerton to begin using fields for activities that meet these requirements. PLEASE NOTE: This form that is designed to gauge INTEREST ONLY. This is not a registration. Knowing your interest will allow us to better plan for the program. Because of COVID protocol and limited access to fields as a result of school closures, GHLL can only build a certain amount of T.A.D upon launch. As we slowly develop this program & fields become available, we will build more teams to accommodate interest. As those teams are built, a GHLL T.A.D approved manager may reach out to you with a registration link to join a team. Under the current California youth sports guidelines in place, we plan to run this program from August to November. If guidelines change that allow us to participate in games/scrimmages (within or outside of league), we may pivot from T.A.D only into something that mirrors traditional Fall Ball. Golden Hill Little League Families : We hope this message finds you and your family well. With continued uncertainty around so many things in our lives because of COVID-19, the GHLL Board wanted to inform you where things currently stand for Golden Hill Little League and all youth sports in the State of California and Fullerton. On August 3rd, the California Department of Health released guidance for a safe return to youth sports for school-based, club, and recreational org...anizations. The new guidance allows for a restart of youth sports that can operate outside, keep physical distancing of at least 6 feet between participants, and maintain a stable cohort (e.g : a class or team). In other words, only social distance training and conditioning is allowed within the same group of participants for its duration. No games, scrimmages, or competitions of any kind would be allowed for the foreseeable future. On Aug 6th, the Fullerton Parks and Recreation Department has stated that they will only give permits for field use to Fullerton organizations who can strictly follow the updated CA Dept. of Health youth sports guidance. Failure to adhere to said guidelines can result in the loss of field use in future seasons. Simply stated, Golden Hill Little League traditional Fall Ball cannot be played under this policy. However, GHLL understands that youth sports benefit children’s physical and mental health while also playing a crucial role in socialization and learning how to be part of the community. And with schools going to a distance learning model for the foreseeable future, we feel that now is the most important time for the youth sports organizations in Fullerton to help provide these health benefits to any child in Fullerton not just the elite athletes or those who can afford club sports. EVERY child should have an opportunity to play. As such, we are looking into developing programs that can be offered to our GHLL community to provide the physical activity the kids need. We hope to provide a solution and offering within the next 2 weeks.
