Sadly, today we learned that our Gold Nugget Day's Queen Contest Banner has been stolen from its location at 502 Pearson Road. We've looked high and low, but have not seen hide nor hair. If by chance you see the banner, please give us a call. If you have the banner, please return it to the Depot Museum with no questions asked. We'd simply like to rehang it as a part of our festival and as a tribute to the young ladies who have worked so hard for this moment, and to acknowled...ge their respective sponsors. The Paradise Ridge is home to some amazing parks and steeped in rich history. One of the gems of Paradise is the Paradise Depot Museum and Paradise Community Pa...rk. During normal summers you will see the Paradise Ridge Chamber of Commerce host live music and a farmer’s market for Party in the Park. The docents from the Gold Nugget Museum are available in the Depot Museum to share information on the history of the ridge and the Butte County Railroad. We are grateful for the Gold Nugget Museum and Paradise Ridge Chamber of Commerce for their work in promoting and preserving our businesses and history. Like our community, many non-profits and community organizations are critical pieces to the recovery and overall well-being of our region. They rely on your generosity and that of others to support the work they do. This week is the North Valley’s Week of Giving. Our organization awaits the clearing of damaged trees to begin our restorative process by a generous grant from the North Valley Community Foundation: New bridges, Maidu heritage site, school house, permanent restrooms, Nuggetville, blacksmithing and so much more! With a heavy heart, and sad tidings, your Gold Nugget Museums share in the loss of yet, another special person to our community, Mrs. Nancy Humphrey. Long time Paradise resident, Nancy passed away quietly on October 24, 2020, following an extended illness. Nancy had been living in Oroville since losing her home in the Camp Fire, but has forever left her mark on this community with her selfless volunteerism and kind heart. Nancy was an active volunteer with the Gold Nugget Mus...eum committees for many years, including Chairperson of the Gold Nugget Days Grand Marshall selection process, and as the premiere hostess to some of Paradises' finest community contributors. Participating in numerous fundraisers, Nancy could always be counted on to fill any job even though she worked fulltime! Nancy also chaired the celebration food committee and each year would provide delicious lunches to thank our museum sponsors and advertisers. Her favorite: The year she provided each with a cowboy hat with a picnic lunch wrapped in a bandana - her loving touch to the kindness of others. Nancy will be sorely missed by her many friends, family, and by the community who loved her so dearly. Services will be held at 11:30am, Friday, November 6, 2020, at the Paradise Cemetery.

WE are currently engaging with the Town of Paradise to acquire the Butte County Railway caboose as part of the Depot Museum attractions. We've long awaited the opportunity to have the caboose as part of our museum features and look forward to sharing our BCRR past with with knowledgeable docent-guided tours. GREAT NEWS & MORE GREAT NEWS! Joy Lyn's Candies Grand Re-Opening Tomorrow, October 1st and - My Name is Haley and I Live ...in Paradise Book Signing at Joy Lyn's this Saturday, October 3rd! Chocolate lovers from near and far are celebrating in anticipation of the Grand Re-Opening of Joy Lyn's Candies in Paradise on Thursday, October 1st at 10 am, 220 Pearson Road. Just getting started at their new location, owners Glenn & Jody Hartley (& family!) have shared that confectionery selections will be limited for the opening; however there will be plenty of heavenly chocolates and sweet treats to choose from, and more to come every week. Joining the fun at Joy Lyn’s Candies this week, award-winning illustrator and author Steve Ferchaud will be signing copies of his latest creation My Name is Haley and I Live in Paradise" on Saturday, October 3rd 11-1. Along-side Ferchaud will be Haley inspiration for the book’s main character. "Remembering about all the beautiful things her hometown has to offer, Haley journals the adventures she has with best friends, Lucia Violet and Sam. It was all so perfect until that day - the day of the Paradise Camp Fire. Enjoy the journey through Paradise from their perspective of hope, resilience, and optimism in this superbly written and illustrated book. My Name is Haley and I Live in Paradise was generously written and published to benefit Youth on the Ridge Community Foundation. The Foundation supports non-profit organizations that deliver vital services and programs to youth on the Paradise Ridge. Steve Ferchaud is donating !00% of the profits of the sale of the book to the Foundation. Community members are invited to bring their already purchased book &/or purchase more at the book-signing to be autographed by Steve Ferchaud & Haley.
