For anyone interested in Interpreting and translation in education. Don't miss it!
A free electronic version of the Diccionario panhispánico de español jurídico. Enjoy!
"How a bad translation of ‘Black Lives Matter’ ended up enabling racist narratives on Chinese social media. On Twitter, the tag # usually includes negative views of BLM." For professional translators this is second nature: we carefully craft meaning, particularly when we know much is at stake for so many people potentially affected by our translation choices. ... If the message matters, leave it to professionals. #BLM #propercommunicationmatters
Although we at GlobalTradu have not been very active in social media platforms lately, in part due to a change in focus/strategy, and now because of the pandemic, we, mostly me, Daniel Tamayo, as its owner, have been very busy covering many interpreting assignments, now mostly online/remotely, as well as an ever increasing number of written translation projects, for local, national and international direct clients and T&I agencies. I've also been fortunate to have gotten to ...teach some more online courses recently, and I look forward to doing more of them in the near and distant future. I am actively serving on the board of two of our T&I organizations and I'm happy to have made the time to have started a series of online chats with groups of colleagues from the Translation and Interpreting group that I manage since 2009, which I care deeply for. Good times. So, we feel blessed -- I feel blessed -- to have kept increasingly busy working despite us going through these trying times, and wish you all the same: May you all be as positively busy as you'd like to be, realigning your goals and priorities, but more than anything, enjoying and making the most out of your time with your loved ones. Although I'm not with all of my loved ones, I have been enjoying greatly my time with my sons, exercising with and without them, which is all worth every sacrifice I need to make during these difficult times. Cheers and much health to all of you, and I look forward to working or simply exchanging hellos with many if not all of you sometime in the future. #DanielTamayo #GlobalTradu #positivelybusy #hope
Many of these are very interesting! Thank you, our dear colleague Tram Bui for sharing it!
This looks like a rather complete refresher full-day course on consecutive interpreting conducted by a highly competent and experienced trainer/practitioner. If we can make the investment, now is a crucial time to sharpen our skills. https://myemail.constantcontact.com/Seminar-Moved-Online--A
Some are classics already, some may be a challenge to understand, but most of them are very clever and funny. Have a positive and safe new week, everybody.
Dear friends, clients and colleagues, we hope you're hanging in there, safe and sound, making the most of your downtime. One thing you could do at home to improve your language skills is get really, really good at Scrabble! Stay safe and enjoy!:) https://www.merriam-webster.com//g/scrabble-dictionary-mm
Some free online resources for those who have little guys at home. Wishing everyone a safe and healthy next few months.
Hi, everyone. We've been asked to recommend an interpreter for university education related matters for different dates near Fresno, California. They prefer locals. Please email me if interested and able, including your CV and rate sheet at [email protected]. Thank you in advance.
ATA certified EN>ES, with experience in software development and project management, based in the Los Angeles area, please contact Daniel Tamayo at [email protected] as soon as possible.
Linguistic variation (from the norm) explained. :)
