After working in partnership with local communities in Ecuador, our discussion sparked sustainable changes in our own lives, such as learning where our produce comes from and how bigger corporations take advantage of family businesses for their own profits. This inspired us to go to our local farmers’ markets to buy produce that benefits our bodies and the local farms. Powerful person to person exchange with the guest speaker in Nicaragua. For the first time this spring we brought our leadership and global learning experiences into high school classrooms across the country! Our staff gave teachers a much-deserved break by taking over virtual classes and assemblies and bringing core subjects to life. After months of virtual learning, students and teachers loved the live, high-energy facilitators, guest speakers from around the world, and ...dynamic curriculum building empathy and global perspective. We’re excited to incorporate this programming into our permanent model! By the numbers: - 22 Virtual Sessions - 15 High Schools - 1000+ Students 100% of teachers would recommend Global Glimpse to other teachers #virtualclassroom #educationmatters #globaleducation #knowyourworld

Happy #EarthDay2021! My generation has largely failed until now to preserve both justice in the world and to preserve the planet. It is your generation that must make us accountable to make sure that we don't betray the future of humankind. United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres It is undisputed that Greta Thunberg is a young leader in the #ClimateCrisis conversation, however, this #EarthDay we’d like to highlight a few of the young BIPOC leaders championing #Cl...imateAction around the world. Isha Clarke, California (18) @curlyqisha Isha Clarke from Oakland, California, is one of the original members of Youth vs. Apocalypse, a diverse group of youth activists who came together to protest a coal terminal which was to be built in a community of color in Oakland. Tere Gonzalez, Mexico @litrodeluzmexico Tere Gonzalez is a 2016 UN Young Leader for the SDGs and the president of Liter of Light Mexico, part of a global movement to repurpose plastic soda bottles to create sustainable light sources for homes, businesses and streets. They work directly with minorities and marginalized groups, including gypsy and indigenous communities, people living in slums, victims of drug cartels and migrants. Helena Gualinga, Ecuador (19) @helenagualinga Climate activist Helena calls the Sarayaku indigenous community home. Located deep in the Ecuadorian Amazon. Like many indigenous groups, the Sarayaku faces the constant threat of losing their land, which is highly sought after by extractive industries. Helena started her activism early, growing up taking part in protests and strikes alongside her family. Resources on climate change activism: http://ow.ly/WAXt50EiSrF

Accountability has prevailed and Derek Chauvin is guilty of the murder of George Floyd, but the work is not done. We acknowledge the immense emotional and psychological toll that this trial and the simultaneous murders of Duante Wright and Adam Toledo have had on our community, and particularly our Black and Brown students, families, educators, colleagues, and partners. Today’s verdict is a critical step towards setting a precedent for police accountability, however this verd...ict does not fundamentally change the system that allowed George Floyd to be murdered in the first place. Our policing and criminal justice systems are rooted in white supremacy, racism, and violence. We will continue to empower young people to stand up, speak out, and support one another to dismantle that which is unjust and build a world that values and protects every person equally. Global Glimpse joins others in demanding not just accountability for past injustices, but action to prevent future tragedies. There are organizations throughout the country working urgently to make change. On #NationalSibligngsDay we celebrate the incredible families who are a part of the Global Glimpse community. GG Alum, Josue Gregorio said it best: I stand here with strength and courage and the belief that I have so much to contribute to this world. Global Glimpse, thank you for showing me that and thank you for being a part of the Gregorio family. My sister Edna who did Global Glimpse graduated from UC Berkeley and studied abroad in Spain. My younger brother did Global ...Glimpse last year and my youngest brother Kevin will do it next year. 4 Gregorio siblings will have done Global Glimpse! As you can see Global Glimpse is so much more than just a summer trip. It is an experience that impacts families, changes futures and brings people from all different backgrounds together and I can’t think of anything more important for our world right now. #JosueGregorio, GG Alum #morethantravel #nationalsiblingsday #GGfamily

Every dollar counts as we work to raise $75,000 this holiday season to continue our impact now and build back stronger to serve over 1,000 students next year! Donate at: bit.ly/37gENf9

The last 5 weeks of our Fall Brave New Leaders Virtual Academy have been nothing short of inspiring. On the heels of a deeply divided election, we were motivated to launch another virtual academy bringing together over 100 high school students from rural, urban, and suburban communities across the country to learn about each other, develop their empathy, engage with guest speakers from around the world, and learn to work together to address issues in their communities. With... over 90% attendance rate and high levels of engagement from our students, mentors and global guest speakers, we continue to see that virtual learning (when done right) can be transformative and bring students together from even more diverse backgrounds across the country to connect with the world and build a supportive community in a virtual space. Congratulations to our graduating Fall BNL students and thank you for the important reminder that hope for a brighter 2021 lies in the hands of our next generation!
