Jeffrey Glatz For Chico City Council 2016 15.12.2020

I wanted to take a few moments to give my thoughts on Tami Ritter. The pictures are of the 2 time felon that was living on the streets of Chico. When my wife stopped to take a picture of him shooting up close to Caper Acres, he attacked her by stabbing her with his dirty needle that he took out of his arm. I believe Ritter is an advocate for the homeless and this can be admirable, but I feel as a City Council member she needs to be a stronger advocate for our children, ou...r families and our neighbors and her voting record shows she is not. In my opinion, this passion clouds her judgement and ability to differentiate those that truly need and deserve our help, from those that prey on our citizens and community. She has said all the homeless are locals and residents of Chico. She has said she is proud to have voted against the sit-lie ordinance and voted against all the ordinances the police have asked for in their fight to protect us. I can clearly differentiate those that are mentally ill, suffered a catastrophic event and those looking for support to get back up on their feet, from the transient who comes to Chico to take advantage of its services and live on the streets and in our parks doing drugs and polluting our public areas. Also, the criminals that hide under the umbrella of homelessness, those that attack our citizens, break into our homes and prey on the truly needy homeless as well. Just think of the extra resources our shelters would have if they did not have to provide for the transient and criminal. Those that need our help would be much better off. In fact, I have hired someone who was homeless and living in a tent in his friend’s backyard after losing his job. He is now a key member of our company and a contributing member to our community. I believe Ritter should continue to be an advocate for the homeless, but from the other side of the dais. The rights of our children, our families and our communities should be the #1 priority and through her actions she has demonstrated the opposite. My wife may not have been attacked, our next door neighbor’s house not broken into while their children slept if Ritter and Stone had made our rights to protection and safety more important than a criminal or transient. Please vote to protect Chico citizens. See more

Another great day at Soggy Dog. A big thank you to CARD, Trailblazers and all the volunteers. A great example of something that makes Chico so special.

I am asking everyone to understand that our local Chico election is non-partisan. That National Political Agendas should not play a role in who you vote for during this election. Our local community has serious issues and needs serious people to find solutions to our homeless issue, our crime, our financial strength (or lack thereof) and our Quality of Life. Please Vote November 8!!

I wanted to address Randall Stone and his continued attacks and undermining of our firefighters and police officers. Please watch the attached video. Some people would consider this lying. Here are the facts and I will let you decide for yourself. Stone states that firefighters are paid $165,000 cash plus benefits for a total package of $232,000. Well, the figures I received from the City Finance office show the average firefighter for ALL ranks is paid a base of $80,000... cash and $117,822 cash including reimbursable overtime, not $165,000 and they work a 56 hour week before overtime. A total package of $181,942 includes wages, overtime, reimbursable time and benefits, not $232,000. Stone then fails to mention that a large portion of their income is reimbursed to the City by the State and Federal Government because they use them out of town as well. Why is he making you feel angry and dissatisfied with our fire department? Stone states our police officers are paid $99,000 cash, in another forum the amount was $166,000. A starting officer is paid approx. $56,000 and a ten year vet $74,000. Everything else is overtime and special training. I would argue that Councilors Stone, Ritter are directly responsible for the significant amount of overtime our overburdened officers must work. 75% of all police response is transient related. These two have protected and continue to protect the transient and criminal. If this group of felons, drug users, etc can be managed better by supporting our police department, the overtime would go down. But more importantly, do we really want subpar police officers and firefighters? I want the best we can get and if they are paid well, we expect a higher level of service. Our Public Safety team is delivering that service and they should be commended. Can you trust someone who has not told you the facts and undermines our firefighters and police officers on every occasion? Please make a change this election. See more
