Ever wonder who makes all our tasty pizzas, pastas, salads and sandwiches at Giovanni's Pizzeria?? Well here are the heart and soul of the Pizzeria. Well it is May 1st and all the new plants are in and doing well. Corn, zucchini, tomatoes, bell peppers, onions, garlic, basil, eggplants, artichoke, strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, apricots, cherries, apples and a few more that don't come to mind. A busy 3 months getting all the seeds to germinate and raised boxes organized, water systems in place, and mulch all applied. All the new baby plants are on their way to a productive harvest. The Pizzeria will be having some great produce for the coming months and Saint Isidore's preserves will be in production. Happy May Day to all.

Happy Wednesday, everyone! Here is this week's recipe. POLENTA E SALSICCIA Polenta and Sausages... *INGREDIENTS 6 cups water salt 2 2/3 cups fine cornmeal 1 1/2 lb Italian sausages 3 tablespoons butter 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar *DIRECTIONS Bring water to boil in a large saucepan with a generous pinch of salt. Sprinkle in cornmeal, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon. Cook for 40 minutes, stirring frequently. Prick the sausages with a fork. Melt the butter in a cast iron skillet. Add sausages and fry slowly for 10 minute, turning form time to time. When they are cooked, drizzle vinegar over them and let it evaporate. Spoon polenta onto a serving plate. Top with sausages and spoon melted sausage fat over it. Serve at once. I hope you all have an enjoyable weekend, and don't forget to come to Giovanni's Pizzeria for great company and delicious food! I hope you all have been having a wonderful and productive week! Here is a recipe with you that you can cook for your family this weekend. GNOCCHI ALLA ROMANA Roman-style Gnocchi... *INGREDIENTS 6 cups of milk 3 scant cups of semolina 3 egg yolks 3oz butter 3/4 cup of freshly grated Parmesan cheese *DIRECTIONS *Bring the milk to boil in a large saucepan. Add the semolina all at once, stirring rapidly so that no lumps form. Cook over low heat for about 20 minutes or until the mixture comes away easily from the sides of the pan. Remove from heat and let cool a little. Add the egg yolks one at a time, then half the butter and half the Parmesan. *Turn the semolina out onto a board wet with cold water and spread it into a circle about 1/4 inches thick. Smooth the surface with a spatula dipped in cold water and let cool completely. Cut the semolina into 2-inch circles, using a glass. *Preheat oven to 400*F. Butter a large baking dish and arrange the gnocchi in it in a single layer, slightly overlapping. Melt the remaining butter and put it over the gnocchi; sprinkle with the remaining Parmesan. Hello, Everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter. It's been a while since I've shared a recipe with you, so here is one you can make this week! Teglia Di Pesce Spada Marinated Swordfish... *INGREDIENTS 6 swordfish steaks (tuna fish or snapper cutlets), about 7 oz each salt and freshly ground pepper 1 cup dry white wine 1 fresh rosemary sprig 4 garlic cloves, finely chopped 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil 2 tablespoons fine dry breadcrumbs 3 tablespoons drained capers, chopped juice of 1 lemon * Place the swordfish steaks in a bowl and season with salt and pepper. Pour in the wine. Finely chop the rosemary leaves and add to fish with the garlic. Coat steaks well and marinate for at least 1 hour. *Drain fish, reserving marinade. Brush a skillet with a little of the oil and heat it. Sprinkle fish with breadcrumbs and capers, add to skillet and cook on both sides until nearly cooked through, basting from time to time with marinade. *Whisk the rest of the oil with the lemon juice in a small bowl. Just wanted to wish you all a wonderful week and weekend! Thanksgiving is coming up, so here is an easy and delicious dessert for the occasion. This is the Molded Chocolate Cream. *INGREDIENTS*... 7oz semisweet chocolate, grated 3 cups warm milk 6 egg yolks 2 egg whites 1 cup sugar 16 amaretti biscuits, powdered *Melt the chocolate in the milk. Beat the eggs with 3/4 cup of the sugar. Beat in chocolate milk and amaretti crumbs. *Preheat oven to 350*F. Mix the remaining sugar with a little water and stir over moderate heat until it is a dark gold color. Pour it into a 7 inch mold and turn the mold to coat the bottom and sides with the syrup. Pour in the chocolate mixture. Place the mold in a larger pan; add boiling water to the larger pan to come halfway up sides of mold. Bake 1 hour. Let the dessert rest for 10 minutes before unmolding onto a serving plate. Serve cold. Have a great weekend!

Hello, Everyone. I hope that you all have been having a great week! The dish of the day that I will be sharing with you is Mussel Soup. *INGREDIENTS* 4lb mussels 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil... 2 garlic cloves, chopped 3 tablespoons chopped parsley juice of 1/2 lemon 1/2 cup dry white wine 1/2 cup water salt and pepper 6 slices firm, coarse-textured bread *DIRECTIONS* Scrub and wash the mussels. Place in a large covered stockpot over moderate heat just until they open; discard any that do not open. Strain mussel liquid. *Heat oil in a saucepan over low heat. Add garlic and cook until fragrant. Stir in parsley, lemon juice, mussel liquid, wine, mussels and water and cook for 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. *Meanwhile, toast bread in the oven until golden. Place a slice in each soup bowl. Pour soup over and serve. Fall is finally here, and that means chilly weather will be coming. If you get sick this season, here is a perfect soup that will solve the problem! This soup is called The Roman Egg Soup. *INGREDIENTS 3 cups chicken broth 3 eggs... 1/4 cup of fresh breadcrumbs 1/4 cup of freshly grated Parmesan cheese salt and freshly ground pepper chopped parsley *Bring the broth to boil in a saucepan. In a bowl, beat together the eggs, breadcrumbs, and cheese. Add salt and pepper to taste. *Remove broth from heat and pour in the egg mixture, blending well with a whisk. Return the broth to a boil, stirring constantly with a whisk. *Pour soup into small bowls, sprinkle with parsley and serve. Enjoy the soup and have a wonderful week! See more
