The Summer Activity Guide is here! Online registration opens on Monday, April 12 at 8:00am at www.cityofgilroy.org/reconline. We have a variety of sports, dance, science, art, cooking and enrichment camps this summer as well as our regular recreation classes like Tae Kwon Do, Hula, Adaptive Recreation, Tai Chi and more. Due to COVID-19, class sizes remain small and so classes and camps will fill up fast. We can't wait to have fun with you this summer!
Every Saturday in May, volunteers will take to the streets, sidewalks, parks, and natural areas for this year's National River Cleanup. Get your family or friends together, face coverings, and some cleaning supplies to stop trash where it starts, at our front doors. Former GIlroy Recreation Lifeguards volunteered yesterday at the GIlroy High School vaccination site in the drive up post-vaccination observation area. Thank you for continuing to support GIlroy Recreation and for giving back to our community.
Are you ready for summer? We are and we can't wait to have fun with you! We are so excited to be offering over 70 in-person and virtual camps this summer. Stay tuned...the Summer Guide will be out in early April.
This week, Santa Clara County residents age 75 and older can sign up for the COVID-19 vaccine at San Ysidro Park, in Gilroy on THIS Thursday, January 21 from 10...:00 AM 3:30 PM. This in-person service is provided to assist those who may not be able or have access to schedule appointments online. Eligible community members, age 75 and older, do not have to be present to make the appointment and can have a relative make the appointment. YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE YOUR VACCINE AT THIS LOCATION. The Gilroy Youth Center is currently accepting applications for the for the After School Program that runs January 25-June 3, 2021. This program is free for income eligible youth living in the incorporated areas of Gilroy. In-person registration will be held January 19-21 from 12:00-2:00pm and 4:00-6:00pm at Cesar Chavez Gym. Registration Opens for Winter/Spring Programs on January 11, 2021
In partnership with the County of Santa Clara, we are offering COVID-19 testing at San Ysidro Park today from 1:00 to 5:30pm. Testing is free. No appointment needed.. This testing site is not designed to test individuals with symptoms of COVID-19. Individuals with symptoms should contact their healthcare provider for evaluation and testing. All participants will also receive a resource tote filled with COVID-19 resource information, face mask, hand sanitizer, and disinfecting wipes. Disney Mask and Halloween goodie bag will be provided to children participants (while supplies last).
After School in the Park is a safe place for children to play together and have fun doing it! Program meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 to 4:00pm at the Recreation Building at Las Animas Park. Activities include making slime, building mazes, playing tennis, soccer, flag football and much more! The next 3-week session begins on Tuesday Oct. 27.
