The Giants Community Fund is proud to introduce Willie Mays Scholars - a program dedicated to addressing racial and educational inequities by providing Black youth in San Francisco with academic and holistic support, in addition to a scholarship of up to $20,000. In partnership with 100% College Prep Institute and Alive & Free - Omega Boys Club, scholars will receive mentoring and tailored wraparound services throughout high school and college. A GIANT thanks to our friends at the Masons of California for stepping up in a time of need! Although traditional Masons’ activities were canceled, their #Masons4Mitts program was not. Team by team, in friendly competition style, the Northern California Masons worked together to raise $43,320 for our Junior Giants program! The goal is to provide a simple but meaningful gift; a baseball glove of their own. We want to recognize this year’s winning team, the South Bay Bombers,... for all their efforts to ensure that this donation represents a new baseball mitt for 2,166 Junior Giants players. Thank you South Bay Bombers! Celebrating its 12th year, Masons4Mitts has donated more than $840,000 to the Junior Giants program to provide new mitts for more than 42,000 Junior Giants players across Northern California. Thank you to our friends at the Masons!

Over the past few weeks, members of our staff, Board of Directors and San Francisco Giants team performed their civic duty and responsibility to vote in the 2020 election. The Junior Giants program has been more than just baseball for Samantha Jones, who is also a former Junior Giant and Harmon and Sue Burns Scholarship Program gr...aduate. When Samantha’s little sister Sidney was born with an illness, her family was forced to make many trips to hospitals. When Sidney passed at 3 months old, the Jones family was flooded with cards and condolences from people in their Junior Giants community. The show of support for the family was a big reason Samantha wanted to continue volunteering as a coach after she was done playing in the program. Emily Chrasta, an 18-year-old former Junior Giant and recent Harmon and Sue Burns Scholarship Program graduate from Los Molinos, CA, is working toward finding a... cure to cancer as she majors in biomedical engineering at Cal State Long Beach. Though she was surrounded by family members with cancer growing up, she found the drive to help people during her time as a coach within the Junior Giants. I don’t like seeing people in pain.
