Today we checked in on the construction progress at BLVD MRKT, a project we recently financed in Montebello in partnership with California FreshWorks. This project will bring a new vibrant food hall to downtown Montebello and create 8-10 minority-owned food businesses while revitalizing the historic downtown area on Whittier Blvd.

We are proud to have provided predevelopment financing for this truly innovative project with Clifford Beers Housing. The public Paseo and trees will transform this community.

We are so thrilled that our RETHINK Housing program (in partnership with RNLA, Lehrer Architects, and others) was the highest scoring proposal in the City of Los Angeles HHH Innovation Challenge. The challenge seeks to build more permanent supportive housing for the homeless at lower cost and faster pace. Thanks to Mayor Eric Garcetti for his leadership in promoting innovation in the housing arena. We’ve learned so much through our RETHINK Housing program over the past two years and have a lot of exciting work ahead. Onward! #HHH

Last week, the Genesis LA team kayaked down the LA River. This experience was a powerful reminder to all of us that the river holds such an important place in our city’s history and its future. We encourage all Angelenos to take this journey, as doing so will turn all of us into advocates for envisioning the river as a place for open space, housing, and economic development. Genesis LA has invested nearly $30MM in a half dozen projects along the river in the last 4 years and there is more to come. #LAriver Studio-MLA LA-Más Amped Kitchens Jovenes, Inc.

Mayor Eric Garcetti joined us and our partners at LA-Más and Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles to celebrate the completion of our pilot ADU. The lessons learned from this project have laid the foundation for our larger ADU program and a new financing tool funded with support from JPMorgan Chase & Co. #PROneighborhoods and Wells Fargo.
