Dis-ease. Sooner or later we all find ourselves weak and suffering from illness. We all feel a sense of relief once we get a correct diagnosis and a prescription to help us get well. The Bible tells us that the root of all dis-ease is sin. In compassion God sent His Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins so that the root cause of our suffering could be taken away.... But how does faith in Christ help us in our suffering here and now? In this Sunday's passage the Book of James gives us God's prescription for trusting Him with our physical and spiritual suffering. By applying God's spiritual prescription God promises that His peace will rule over our hearts no matter the outcome. Join this Sunday on FB live or in person from 10:00-11:00 Am as we learn how to fight dis-ease with the peace that comes from God.

Boasting. It is usually seen as a negative character trait. We have been made sick by a braggart who is full themselves. In this Sunday's passage the Book of James reveals that there is 'evil' boasting and 'good' boasting.... Evil boasting is focused on the glory of 'me'. It feeds on the lie that one can play god and live life apart from God. It seeks the glory of self and relies on self. Good boasting is focused on the glory of 'God'. If feeds on the truth that we were created for the glory of God. It seeks the glory of God and relies on God. James warns us that our lives will miss the mark if we live for the glory of self, but if we live for the glory of God we will hit the bullseye in this life and in the life to come. Join us this Sunday in person or on Facebook live from 10:00-11:00 Am as we learn to boast about what really matters in life, God and His glory.

Lying under oath, or perjury is a serious crime. Punishment for committing perjury can result in probation, fines, or a lengthy prison sentence. Courts make people guarantee that they will tell the truth because people tend to exaggerate, obscure, and outright deny the truth.... Even in simple conversations people have to back up their words with flippant oaths like 'swear to God' or 'I promise' revealing that their word is not good enough. In this week's passage James reinforces the teaching of Christ that reveals that the truthfulness of our word should be enough. The Book of James reminds us that as followers of Christ our words should reflect Christ. By reflecting the humility, wisdom, and truthfulness of Christ we glorify God and build people's trust in us. Is your word enough? What do your words reveal about the condition of your heart? Join us this Sunday in person or live on Facebook from 10:00-11:00 as we learn what it means to love God and neighbor with the words we speak.

The full Gospel is about transformation

Gateway Christian Church of Daly City 12.04.2021

Forty years ago today I received the greatest gift I will ever receive in my life. I received the gift of God's love and forgiveness, freely given, through faith in Jesus Christ. I was 21 years old and was medicating my negative feelings about life and myself with alcohol, drugs and other vices. A young Baptist pastor shared the Gospel with me and I invited Christ to transform my life. Looking back over my life, especially who I was at the time of my conversion, it is clear... that He has transformed me. The old me was characterized by deep wounds and worldly ways. The new me is characterized by growth as I trust God and walk in His ways. Spiritual transformation is the greatest gift and calling in life. God Himself is the greatest thing in the universe; therefore the highest blessing He can give us is the opportunity to become like Him. When we become like Him, His divine power removes the brokenness of our lives one layer at a time. This divine process heals, transforms, and set us free to experience abiding peace that is no longer dependent on our circumstances but on God Himself. I used to run from pain but now I see how God uses pain to call me to trust Him with the core needs of my heart. I have come a long ways and I have a long ways to go but life has become the wonderful adventure of trusting God one issue at a time. Soli Deo Gloria, Pastor John Grussi

Sooner or later we all experience events that put us in touch with the divine needs of our souls. Death puts us in touch with our need for life beyond the grave. Moral failure puts in touch with our need for forgiveness.... Rejection put us in touch with our need for unconditional love and acceptance. Emptiness put us in touch with our need for purpose and meaning. The world offers many counterfeit offerings that never bring lasting relief. Many of these offerings often ensnare us in behaviors that leave us broken, hopeless, and tormented. Scripture tells us that God has met our divine needs by sending Son, Jesus Christ. Through His life, death, and resurrection Jesus imparts 'newness of life' to those who believe in Him. Once His life is in us the goal of life is to align our hearts with His Word so that His divine blessings can renew our lives. Join us this Sunday in person or live of Facebook as we celebrate the fact that Jesus Christ died and rose so that we may 'walk in newness of life.'

Covid cannot lock down the Gospel. We must advance the Gospel not just hunker down.

Gateway Christian Church of Daly City 14.10.2020

Covid 19 has people, even believers, locked down in fear. Tonight we are going to look at how the Apostle Paul advanced the Gospel while he was locked down in a Roman prison. He refused to let his dire circumstances control how he responded in faith. As a result the Gospel reached the very household of the emperor and emboldened the early church to be faithful witnesses.... Paul's faith victory changed the course of world history. History reveals that often all it takes is one decisive battle to change the course of a war. Join me tonight on Facebook live from 7-8PM as we look at Philippians 1:12-13; 25. Let's see how we can win the battle for our faith so we can advance the Gospel even during a pandemic. See you tonight, Pastor John Grussi

Do you have a 911 person in your life? A 911 person is that faithful friend you can count on to encourage and pray for you when you face the pain, loss, and uncertainties of life. We all need a 911 friend because sooner or later bad news comes knocking. Layoffs, accidents, disease, and especially death can knock the wind out of our faith.... In moments like this we desperately need a friend who will comfort us in our distress and whose prayers strengthen our faith. Join me this Sunday on Facebook live as we study Jesus’ prayer in John 17. We will learn how Jesus’ prayer helps find overcoming hope in an uncertain word. Jesus is the ultimate 911 person in the lives of believers.

Let's guard our hearts from fear as we prepare for the results of the coming election for God has called us to be filled with peace not fear.

Gateway Christian Church of Daly City 15.09.2020

Fear and uncertainty are gripping peoples hearts right now as we prepare for the results of the November 3rd election. As followers of Christ our hearts are to be anchored with the peace of God no matter who is in power. Tonight we are going to renew our peace as we re-discover God's rule over human political systems. We are also going to look at our role as citizens of the kingdom of God who live in America.... We are going to look at four ways we can guard our hearts as we learn who will be in power on November 4th. Join me on Facebook from 7-8PM as we study God's Word and as we pray for our each other and the future of our beloved country. May the peace of Christ guard our hearts, Pastor John Grussi

What does the cross mean to you? For some it is just a piece of jewelry. For others it is a sign that points to a church building. In Jesus’ day the cross was a symbol of utter humiliation, suffering, and death. In just a few centuries it became the symbol of the Christian faith. ... How it did go from being a symbol of defeat to a symbol of victory? For those who understand what Christ accomplished for them on the cross it became the symbol that calls them to live with joy, peace, and courage in this troubled world. Join us this Sunday, October 10th on FB from 10-11Am live as we study how the cross of Christ empowers us to overcome this troubled world. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage, I have overcome the world. (John 6:33b)
