Butterflies can be studied at home. "They provide educational value. Their metamorphosis from egg to caterpillar to chrysalis to butterfly is a great teaching tool. Schoolchildren often study them as an introduction to the wonders of nature. Butterflies bring an awareness of nature to those who observe them, as well as joy and relaxation." One of the benefits that comes with living in the valley is the wonderful variety fresh fruit and vegetables we have. Many of our families do have their own home gardens. These can be a source of hands-on, project based learning opportunities. Another fun option is to explore a "pick your own" farm. Vanderhelm farms is located on Albers Road in Modesto. Gateway Academy OpenEnrollment window opens on March 1, 2021. Gateway Academy is now accepting students for the 2021-22 school year. Families new to Gateway will need to complete our Enrollment Request Form which can be found on our website @ www.escaloncharteracademy.com in the "Enrollment" section under the "School" tab.

Gateway is one of very few schools in our area to offer students an opportunity to take college course work at any of our California junior colleges to meet high school class requirements. If your student plans to be dually enrolled next school year, we will need to sign your part time petition form this week.

There are so many different ways to help a child learn a new concept. Often, it can happen when we take advantage of a moment. Can you think of a time when this happened with your child?

Who can relate?

Our students were busy learning about our theme "Planet Earth" during this past block of Monday classes. Students learned about Earth, the effects of pollution, animals and adaptation, and so much more! There are no Monday classes scheduled for April. We will be getting ready for our May theme, "Recreation/Olympics". Be sure to keep an eye out for the sign up email.
