We are proud to announce that this Wednesday and Thursday we will be having our Quarter 2 and Quarter 3 Drive Thru Awards Celebration. We will be recognizing students for their Academic Achievements, Perfect Attendance, and for the ROAR Award. The event will run from 4 to 5PM. For students on campus in Group A, B, or D they can pick up their awards from 2 to 3PM when their parents pick them up from school. Invitations are being emailed out to award winners and a School Messenger to come to all parents of award winners. We hope to see you on Wednesday or Thursday!!

Gaston students and families, we have 28 more days of school left. Let's end the year with 95% Average Daily Attendance. We have dropped from 4th to 5th place. These week we will raffle off a $25 gift card Friday after. All students who have perfect attendance this week will be entered to win!! #ROAR #GastonOnTheRise

As we wrap up 2020 Gaston Families - we want to say "THANK YOU!!". Thank you for being our partners in 2020 in ensuring education occurred each day. We could not have done this work without you!! Have a great last day of 2020 and safe celebrations tonight so that you and your family can start 2021 strong. Remember school starts back Tuesday, January 12th. Next week we will have videos posted for you to remind you about the new schedule.

Nov. 10: "Mr. Hinojosa, thank you for your inspiration to learn about music in creative ways. I have enjoyed listening and learning with your students about the different instrument families, voice types and musical forms. I especially appreciate how you check in with students to make student connections and play and sing a little Barry White to set the tone. Nov. 9 Mrs. Purves is thankful for Ms. Davis. Here is what she says, "I am thankful for Ms. Davis. She works tirelessly to make her classes better for her students and is always trying to learn new technologies so that she can be better at distance learning."

Nov. 9 Mrs. Purves is Thankful for Mr. Leal. Here is what she says, "I am thankful for Mr. Leal’s leadership and willing to try new things. He really cares for his students and will go above and beyond for them on any day."

7 year's ago today, Gaston had it's first rally. We hope our former Bengals are doing well and we want you to come back one day to be the future leaders, teachers, pastors, community organizers, business owners, etc. in the Edison region.

We wish we could give all a physical award for your hard work these past 3 months in partnering with us to ensure that your child gets an education. Because of your efforts we ended Quarter 1 at 95.18% Average Daily Attendance. As of yesterday for Quarter 2 we are at 97.25%!!! To all of the awesome families out there in whatever shape, size, or make up, you are making a difference!! Please take sometime this weekend to check your child's grades and have them work on missing assignments. If they say that have no work ALL student can work on Math and Reading iReady for points in their classes.

November 7: "Lastly, before the day is out I would like to thank our Noon Time Assistant, Ms. Olga. She is great because she does an outstanding job at deescalating students and build relationships with students in a way that makes them feel safe and heard. We can always count on her to help. Over this past month she has been there to help with out first cohort of students who are physically back at school. Sadly yesterday was her last day at Gaston, we will miss her and we are not sure how we will replace her as she is one of a kind. Thanks Ms. Olga!!!" From, Mr. Curtis.

November 7: "I am thankful for our Library Media Teacher at Gaston, Ms. Gutierrez. I remember when we got to interview her over 6 years ago while she was still at Roosevelt High. We were lucky that we got to steal her away. Ms. Gutierrez knows her stuff, is super organized, and has kept the library in tip top shape these past 6+ years. Because of her all of our students have computers and hotspots in hand and get the help they needed when stuck with tech issues. We would not be at over 97% attendance if it was not for her hard work. Thanks for all that you do each day in going above and beyond for kids and staff!!!" From, Mr. Curtis.

November 7: "Today I am thankful for Nurse Shinkawa. She is very knowledgeable, has a heart for kids, has been at Gaston since it's start, and serves in a key role in connecting our kids with the full Health Clinic that is onsite next to her Nurse's Office. She has even helped me a time or two when I have not felt well. She is a very important part of the Gaston Team. Thank you for all you do!!!" - From Mr. Curtis.

Vice Principal Neufeld is thankful for Nou Lee. She says, I admire how Mrs. Lee remains calm, doesn’t show that she’s stressed during difficult times in the classroom. I watched as every piece of technology she planned to use during instruction would not work, and she never showed one sign of panic. That has to be a superpower! Right?

Vice Principal Neufeld is thankful for Esteban Yanez. She says, Mr. Yanez earned his Master’s degree while he was a first year teacher! That is quite an accomplishment, and it is a great example to his students of his commitment to learning and perseverance.

Vice Principal Neufeld is thankful for Gayane Sargsyan. She says, Mrs. Sargsyan is a brilliant educator and leader. I’m forever grateful that she allowed me to experience her Armenian culture and incredible hospitality.
