We often get calls asking why we don’t feature Michael Bayes’ work on our website. The artist prefers it this way. Like us, he believes there is something special about the tactile experience of viewing his creations in person. Given the current stage of the pandemic in Los Angeles this isn’t possible. Besides debris and graffiti, both the Center and adjoining Freehand are fine. Thank you to everyone who reached out.

We have new scarves and necklaces from Judith Content, who was recently featured on the Craft in America episode "Quilts" and currently has work in the corresponding exhibit next door at the Craft in America Center. Judith uses unusual stencils like sushi mats and sequin waste to paint the buttons for her necklaces. The silk shibori scarves are hand dyed and pieced together.
