Wednesday, November 11, 2020 Veterans Day Thank You To All Of Our Veterans. We Have Our Freedoms Because Of You. Veterans Day is a time for us to pay our respects to those who have served. For one day, we stand united in respect for you, our veterans. This holiday started as a day to reflect upon the heroism of those who died in our country's service and was originally called Armistice Day. It fell on Nov. 11 because that is the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I. However, in 1954, the holiday was changed to "Veterans Day" in order to account for all veterans in all wars.

A Must Read.....This is an exciting email sent by our own dear Dawn Maher....moving forward.....Dear Aerie 2356 members: It's with great joy that we're able to announce the Aerie will reopen November 19. We know it's been a long, difficult half-year on so many levels, not the least of them the Aerie being closed due to the coronavirus pandemic. So, this is something so many of us have been looking forward to. In order for the reopening to make sense financially for the Aerie ...and to adhere to Santa Clara County restrictions, we have to observe new guidelines and change some of how the bar operates: * Days and hours of operation will be Thursdays through Sundays, 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., beginning November 19. It will be at the shift bartender's discretion to close earlier if business is slow on any day. * Limited, socially distanced member seating will be outside only; tables and chairs will be set up on Castro St. and reserved for members and additional limited seating will be available on the back patio. * Members must purchase their drinks inside from the bartender -- no more than three members at a time will be allowed in at one time -- and take them to the outside seating, where they'll need to remain seated while enjoying their drinks. Masks will be required at all times inside when ordering drinks -- no mask, no service! * Out of necessity, drink prices have been increased -- for example, $4 for bottled beer and $5 for well drinks. (The bar manager will set prices for other drinks closer to the reopening.) The Aerie will be professionally sanitized before reopening and equipped with protective equipment to keep members and bartenders safe. More details to come prior to the reopening. We look forward to seeing you at the Aerie starting November 19. Be safe, members! See more

Shout Out To Our Wonderful Bartenders....Looking Forward To Having You Pour More Libations.................. OLIVE JAR ......( A Must Read) ......... A fellow came into a bar and ordered a martini. Before drinking it, he removed the olive and carefully put it into a glass jar. Then he ordered another martini and did the same thing. After an hour, when he was full of martinis and the jar was full of olives, he staggered out. Well, said a customer, I never saw anything as peculiar as that! What’s so peculiar about it? the bartender said. His wife sent him out for a jar of olives.
