In our Foster 2 Foster mentoring program, we work with former foster youth who are now adults and are interested in 'giving back' to the community. One such volunteer recently shared that he was excited to be able to engage with and support a youth who might need the kind of help he wished for when he was in foster care. As a foster kid, he felt like he 'did not belong' and remembered 'longing to belong'. This man, now grown and with a family of his own, now can offer thi...s to a current foster youth - experiences that foster the youth's sense of belonging and connection to the world around him.
