The Foster Care Auxiliary Brian Harvey Memorial Scholarship Deadline is July 1. If you are/were a foster child in OC and are continuing your education past high school, apply now. Remember that to qualify, you need to submit at least two references from teacher, employers, etc with your application. Scho...larship Application Instructions Each year at least one $500 Academic Scholarship will be available. Former or current Orange County Foster Children are invited to apply. Applicants must be applying for, or currently enrolled in, a training/education program or College. Proof of current enrollment is required prior to receiving check. This award can be utilized for tuition, fees, books, supplies or equipment required for the Student’s courses. All applications must be completed, signed by the applicant, and submitted by July 1. The Scholarship Committee will determine the designated recipients and may request a phone or in person interview. Scholarship recipients will be notified of their status by September 1. Many of my foster children were able to return to their birth families...I always wonder about them. A few stayed in touch, but more often than not- it was a section in their lives that they do not want to keep remembering. Sending good wishes and success to all families...foster, adoptive, birth, step, and relatives.

Don’t get me wrong, I value authenticity. But I also ascribe to a philosophy of fake it ‘til to you make it. When I became a foster parent, there was no love ...lost for my kids’ parents. I was on one side; they were on the other. I was the noble one, stepping in for the poor child; they were the terrible parents, who did wrong and would never change. But conviction came. So even though the feelings weren’t there, I put on love. I acted in love. Because love isn’t a feeling, it’s a practice. And you want to know the beautiful part of fake it til you make it? I’ve always, eventually made it. When I’ve done the work of love, I’ve gained the feelings of love. When I’ve acted in love, I’ve actually become loving. When I’ve shown love, I’ve received love, gained a loving relationship. Today, I visited my girls’ mom. Because she needed help. Because she’s my daughter’s mother. Because she’s my friend. Because I love her. Love is a practice, and it’s taken practice. But the practicethe faking, so to speakhas brought real, true love. These masks have a pocket for additional filter and fit a variety of faces well. They are washable (I wash mine when I’m washing my hands after being out and hang to dry. I have several in case I need to go out again before it dries- but it can be put in the washer/dryer.) See more

So if you are getting a bill to renew your subscription, hold off because I will have the details very soon.
