Please read this notice from Cal Fire. This applies to our area too.
This may help with getting our land line phones to stay on when the power is off. It's worth a try.
We would like to wish Ann a very Happy 98th Birthday! Ann has been a huge part of our auxiliary for many years and she has announced she will be retiring from service on December 19th. Good Morning, now that everyone is finally able to go home I would like to say a few things. This is Chief Greene and I can say this is the biggest event in my 17 years on this department. Foothill Fire responded on September 8th around 11:30am to assist the United States Forest Service - Plumas to start evacuations. Foothill started in American House and worked down the hill to Woodleaf. After evacuation our crews mapped all the homes from American House to Clipper Mills.... At 11:25pm we were released and returned to Brownsville. At 11:50pm we were called to the Willow Fire. 5 Volunteers were able to respond in one engine and one water tender. We were released on September 9th at 3 pm. We took the 10th to make sure our family's were safe and to finally get some much needed rest. The morning of the 11th we were requested by the Forest Service again. Foothill Fire continued to assist the Forest Service on Mooreville Ridge until the September 22nd. The following day volunteers responded to the station to clean up the engines and be available in case needed for structure protection in Forbestown. I would like to thank each of our Volunteers for giving so much of their time. I would also like to thank a few retired volunteers as well. Bill Shaw, Dan Herbster, Jay Parnell, Tristin Marcher, Brandon Fox, Teresa Royat and Steven Elledge who came to assist in our communities time of need. Jeremy Alcala was also a big help along with Greg Stensler from the Dobbins Oregon House Volunteer Fire Department who came to help for a day. Fire season is not over by any means. Please don't let your guard down. Please be safe when using power equipment including generators around your properties. And with any luck we will get some rain soon. And please don't forget about those still fighting fires around California. All of us were very lucky, but so many have lost so much. Thank you for keeping this mountain strong and not giving up.
Good news on our side. Hopefully they can get the north side under control
