Latest News Dear FBA Families: We hope this update finds you and your family healthy and safe. We held out as long as we could before making this decision because we hoped that we could resume playing baseball. We are extremely saddened to announce that we have decided to cancel the remainder of the 2020 Spring Season. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we don’t see a way to play baseball in manner that keeps our players and families safe. Nor can we envision playing a game that ...is compliant with current COVID-19 best practices and guidance from all levels of government (this includes the City of Fontana, County of San Bernardino, the State of California, and the Federal Government). The City of Fontana cannot provide a definitive timeline on when our League could access our allocated fields. Additionally, PONY Baseball cancelled the 2020 post season All-Star Tournaments. Many other local Youth Sports organizations have cancelled their spring seasons as well. At this time, we cannot justify the risk of gathering versus the reward of playing, as much as we all love the game of baseball. League registration fees and sponsorship's generally cover the cost of field permits, equipment, field improvements, storage units, pictures, insurance, pony affiliation, sanctioning and uniforms or uniform allowances. Those expenses have already been borne by the League for the Spring Season. Monies raised from our spring fundraiser go to covering the remaining costs of running the League, which include umpires, field prep and security. Our organization will continue to look for ways to do more with less, while maintaining the product you have all come to expect. For these reasons, the League will not be issuing refunds. Instead we will be issuing credit for fall 2020 season and lowering the cost of registration for and 2021 Spring Baseball season. We are heartbroken that we lost this season of baseball. But we also acknowledge that some families have experienced tangible loss during this pandemic, health-wise and economically. So, we will keep things in perspective and hope current conditions improve for Fall Ball. We want to thank the players for making FBA PONY a great place to play ball. We want to thank the coaches for their time and effort preparing for the season. We want to thank the volunteers for making the League run. Most of all, we want to thank you for your understanding during this difficult time. We as a Board have committed ourselves to improving our organization during this forced downtime. We will be contacting Managers for equipment return instructions. Please keep the essential workers, first responders, and health care professionals in your thoughts and prayers. Please feel free to contact [email protected] with questions.
