It’s starting to feel like spring.

A very special birthday delivery for the super stylish @pourstyles from her adoring and equally stylish husband @dylanlaughs. Vintage caste iron urn packed full of assorted garden goodness! Camelias, hellebore, ranunculus, chocolate lace, tulips, larkspur, freesia, kalanchoe and jasmine. Spring has sprung!

One of my favorite ways to design is by using what is already happening in the landscape as a guide. If this wedding would have taken place in spring the jasmine and wisteria would have been in full bloom and I probably wouldn’t have added a thing, but it was a summer wedding and all the blooms and most of the leaves were spent. Using the structure of the vines as a base, we added assorted foliage, vines, peegee hydrangea and oodles of roses to create this stunning garden inspired backdrop. #enhancingnaturalbeauty

Bittersweet... The season is short, so I must use it in everything! Also, if every arrangement feels like fall maybe Mother Nature will follow suit and give us some cooler weather. #sweaterweather

Out of the mouths of babes... We took our #thevoterscreative project to the Aloha Playhouse and worked with the most delightful group of youngsters to create their version of VOTE! Each child brought their favorite collection of toys to work with. There were cars, barbies, legos and even a collection of lip stick. The children created and played and then created some more, even the dog got involved. It was playful, light and chaotically wonderful to witness. I asked each ch...ild to tell me what was important to them. Jack said Love! No hesitation, no pause to think about it, just Love! And then he smiled and ran off to play with his friends. Willie said Family! and then proceeded to draw a picture of his family in the journal. Those few hours spent with the children and their families talking, journaling, laughing and playing were precious to me. They represent the future, our future. One filled with love! and family! #thevoterscreative Thank you! @bryanmillerphoto for joining in on the fun and for capturing the spirit of the project.

While looking through images from past weddings, I came across this gem of Haley and her Pops. They say an image speaks a thousand words and this one... Wow! How can so much goodness be captured in one image? That’s the magic of photography! It speaks of anticipation, excitement, family and tradition. You can read more of the story on my latest blog post... find the link in my profile.

I am thrilled to present the first offering in a series of art installations driven by one word. VOTE! The intention of this project is to create space for a collaboration of different ideas and perspectives, a way for a group of individuals to come together to express an idea collectively; with one goal in mind... to bring attention to the need to get out the vote! ... I will be hosting more gatherings in the hopes of building on what we have started and empowering more voices in our communities and at the polls. If you are interested in participating in one of these collaborations or have an idea, please DM me. You don’t have to be a floral designer! You don’t even have to be an artist! All that is needed is the desire to be involved, because together we can create beauty and together we can effect change. Let’s be that beauty and that change! @cavinelizabeth | Mil Gracias! for capturing our message so beautifully. You instinctively knew how to make this vision come to life. @julepvenue | What a perfect venue for our passion project. Thank you for sharing your space with us. @blacklotusdesign | Your’e the mushroom queen and your passion for justice and equality continues to inspire me. @sirenfloralco | No one has a bigger heart than you. Thank you for living the example of loving hard! @emilypetros | Your ability to embrace a challenge with grace and humor is a joy to witness. I want to be you when I grow up. @mochida.noriko | Your perspective is spot on. You have the ability to break things down and see them for what they truly are. There is so much value in that.

The first time I saw Just Joey was in Portland at the International Rose Test Garden. I remember thinking he was a curious fellow, brighter orange in bud and almost completely washed out in full bloom. I wasn’t overly impressed, but I did remember him. Fast forward a few years... A rose grower friend of mine mentioned wanting to rehome some rose bushes. She was going to replace them with a more marketable variety. She had a few suspects in mind and one of them was Just Joey. I figured what the heck and took three off her hands. I am so glad I did! What a rose! The fragrance, the size of the bloom, the shape of the petals, the coloring, everything about Just Joey makes my heart sing. #justjoey @ellarosefarm
