ALRIGHT FOLKS.....been holding this news back. Tomorrow is the last Valentine's Day at the Flower Barrel (220 E. El Norte Parkway), in Escondido, EVER!!!!! Without a full explanation, landlord jumped the rent from $1790/mo (including triple net) to almost $2900/mo. (including triple net). But we're going to be at the spot until FEB. 20th. SO.....what does this mean? Come in, get your flowers, buy some vases, we are running a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE special on vases that are out on the floor, and other little items. Come by ask about it, get some flowers for that special someone, or for yourself (because you can be your own special someone). 34th and last Valentine's Day. Thank you Escondido. Homecoming is coming!!!!!! Get in get your flowers, and let us help you with that. 1) Find out what colors you're wearing, realize some flowers don't come in that exact color and white flowers with a ribbon that's close to the shade of the dress is okay. 2) Carnations are classic, roses are fancy, but if you want something different we can help you there (I bet you thought I was starting a poem)... 3) We can tip flowers almost any major color shade, within reason of course. Carnations tip the best, roses are okay, baby's breath is a fun one to spray. 4) If you see it on pinterest we'll try to do it for you, and we'll give you a price. 5) The earlier the better. Ordering a few days in advance helps us, so we can get what you're looking for. 6) A helpful idea on the corsage. If the person wearing the corsage is petite, go with fewer flowers (3 mini carnations/roses is a great go-to). If they have a larger/longer frame go with more. 7) Lastly, if you're afraid of breaking the bank remember. Carnations are inexpensive, roses are expensive, orchids are expensive, but alstromeria are inexpensive. That last one is for you "I want to try something different that isn't going to kill my wallet."

No joke SDG&E said our tier would get a 400% increase in cost from the hours of 11-4, during this heat wave. I am hoping like you all this is temporary, the rate increase that is. The temperature, like the rent, is too darn high. So as we move into the middle of the summer months our hours will change a bit, and we will post those changes here and on our store's door. With that said I would like to recommend some flowers for these summer months that survive better.

Graduation season is here once again, and that means you'll be shopping about for floral leis. I'd like to offer you guys some advice. I recommend that when you order, either through us or another florist, order ahead of time. Give us or your local florist a couple days notice for two reasons. 1. They are very time consuming to make properly (not two days worth of work, but time to get the flowers). 2. If the florist doesn't make them, the wholesaler they buy from will be heavily impacted with orders and therefore will need to order a day or two ahead of time. TL;DR - Graduation leis sell fast, order in advance.

It's already that time of year. Mother's day, Prom, and Graduation. So don't forget...any of them. Mother's Day is the 8th of May (get flowers), Prom is well...you know when prom is. Graduations will be throughout late May and June. Pre-order your lei's sooner than later.

With the heat we've been having here in San Diego, I would like to offer some professional floral advice. 1. Roses don't do too well in this heat, and do just as bad stuck in an office underneath an AC vent. 2. Flowers like sunflowers and carnations last longer, do better, and tolerate the heat better. 3. The cost of sunflowers and carnations are remarkably less than roses. I.E. You can get 3 carnations for the price of a rose, or 2 sunflowers. Spend just as much get 2 to 3 times more flowers. 4. If you want something fragrant, high class, and has potential to last a good bit, Stargazer lilies. There are typically multiple blooming heads to each stem. Roses 2.95 each, Carnations 1.00 each, Sunflowers 1.50, and stargazers 5.95.
