Christine is housed, and her family will be together this weekend in the safety and shelter of their very own home.

After 19 months of living in his car, Matt says that he is thankful to be starting over. Thanks to Andrae Gonzales, Ascend Real Estate & Property Management, The Housing Authority of the County of Kern, CityServe Kern County, Bakersfield Homeless Center, and Bakersfield/Kern Regional Homeless Collaborative Faces of Homelessness we were able to transition Matt from homelessness to rapid rehousing in downtown Bakersfield. Matt shared with us that the hardship of homelessness was a lesson that taught him the importance of personal responsibility and the value of a life worth living. Now that Matt has reached stable housing, he looks forward to building a life that his family can be proud of.

From homelessness to housing, Harold is ready to lead a purpose-driven life. When we asked Harold what he looks forward to now that he is secure in his new home, he said, "I want to pay this blessing forward and help others in any way I can." #housinghumanity

8 months experiencing homelessness, and our client Christopher says this is all part of God's plan for him to become the man he was created to be. Christopher's nickname in his new community is "Mighty Oak," which suits his 6'3" stature and stoic conviction for peace and respect. Rather than let adversity victimize him, Christopher shares that the empathy and grace he's received in the last 8 months is healing him from his deepest traumas. Christopher hopes to get a job in ministry and build a new life for himself. 5 years of experiencing homelessness and Denise has more hope today than ever before. When asked about her goals for her future, Denise was quick to answer; get a home. Today, Denise is sleeping in a shelter and says she thanks God every day for the love that surrounds her. She dreams of teaching an art class one day to encourage others to stay positive and listen to their instincts. Denise teaches us that the darker your journey is, the brighter the grace of God appears.
