Around this time of year, we like to send our gratitude to our team of dedicated volunteers! Our amazing volunteers provide support across Flintridge Center. Volunteers teach YOP’s virtual cooking classes and lead fitness classes through YOP Family Wellness. For adults, volunteers teach construction math to APP participants and support many program elements. Our amazing volunteers impact the community in so many creative ways! We are so grateful! The Youth of Promise Family Wellness squad post-workout last weekend! The family wellness program focuses on mental and physical well-being through weekly virtual cooking classes, self-care activities, and outdoor workouts.

This month marks one year since the pandemic dramatically impacted our daily lives. We’ve witnessed the resilience of our community amidst health impacts, lost employment, and challenges facing youth. With support from our community, we we were able to provide: $65,000 in assistance to families.... 155 individuals connected to services through case management. 37 APP graduates. YOP increased youth served by 20%. 176 monthly YOP program touchpoints. We’re committed to continue supporting our community through the pandemic and beyond!

Frank "was going in circles. I didn’t see any purpose in my life. Starting at the age of just 16, Frank cycled in and out of incarceration for nearly 22 years. After being released and getting sober, Frank worked odd construction jobs; he often worked 12-hour days for little pay. I didn’t want to stay stuck where I was at. I needed a change in my life. That change came when he enrolled in the Apprenticeship Preparation Program. After 10 weeks of training, and before offic...ially graduating from the program, Frank got an offer to join the laborers union. I believe that I’m going to succeed.
