Shad season has been better than anticipated, we are still catching decent numbers of shad. If you want to get out on the river for shad act fast or you will miss out.I will be running trips through the 4th of July. Next is salmon, I will be working on spring run salmon on the trinity river through July, then switching to the mighty sac river out of corning for august and September. Due to the excellent fishing outside the golden gate it looks to be another good season on the Sacramento.Don't miss out on salmon season, we chase the chromers!!

Got a dozen shad this evening on the American, 5 of them were large hens, not to bad for our drought conditions

Trinity river report. Fishing has been good lately on the trinity. Water flows have been good and the river has a nice green color to it! Water temps have been between 42 and 45 degrees which is warmer than normal for mid January. We have been seeing good numbers of adult steelhead, half pound steelhead, and brown trout. We have been fishing nymphs but swinging should be good as well. Here are some photos from this last week. These 3 guys fished 3 days with me and landed over 25 fish. A nice mix of adult steelhead, half pounders, and brown trout. A Lot of fish lost as well, so action has been good! More rain on way this weekend should help color and flows as well. Hope to have a coast report next week if it is fish able! Tight lines, Jon

Trinity river report. Fishing has been good some days and tough on others. Groups that have booked 2 days have done best as the fish seem to eat well every other day or so. It is very nice to see this rain pattern lingering around! Water temps have ranged from 50 to 53 in last month. Fish are still coming after dries. My guys have been getting 1 to 4 rises a day fishing dries!! Swing fishing has been decent, but has defiantly been tougher this season than in past. Expect 0 to 3 fish a day on the swing. Nymphing has been better with 1 to 4 fish per angler. Here's a few pics from an epic trip earlier this fall, including a 8 pound fish that ate a dry fly!!
